James and the Giant Peach: Special Edition (Blu-Ray + DVD Combo Pack)

It seems as if Disney sticks more material and restores their films better with each subsequent title they take on. Their latest, 1996’s James and the Giant Peach, is no exception. While the title isn’t decades of years old like some titles that Disney could clean up, I feel that the restoration work done in bringing the title to Blu-Ray is solid. Colors are sharper, the world more immersive, than…

Simple Note (iPad App)

Simple Note is a free App that boasts that it’s best feature is the one that can be find in it’s name; that is to say that the App is “Simple”. While this is true, the App is dead simple to use, there isn’t much else about it that makes it really all that appealing with the exception of it’s price; Free. I’ll be touching base on it’s GUI, ease…

Livio Radio Car Internet Radio; Or The Tale Of The App Who Said Radio Once Too Often

It isn’t too often that I totally disagree with the title of an App, but this time I can’t hold back one iota. It’s confusing in reality because it’s referred to by this long, stringed together title that is actually it’s real name, the one you’d search for in the AppStore, and the name that is plastered all over the App itself. Though the confusion a customer might have concerning…

My Appetite for Destruction: Sex Drugs & Guns N’ Roses By Steven Adler (Book)

Just how fucked up do you have to be to get kicked out of Guns N’ Roses for being a druggie? If you’re originally drummer Steven Adler, pretty fucked up. In his highly addictive (see what I did there?) memoir, Adler with a little help from co-author Lawrence J. Spagnola, will likely garner very little sympathy from most. Yes, he had a rough childhood, kicked out of the house as…

The New Adventures of Old Christine (DVD)

CBS clearly had a sadomasochistic relationship with the sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine for the entire five season run of the show before finally putting the often hilarious show out of its misery earlier this year. The show, centering on Julie Louis-Dreyfus in a role even better than her iconic Seinfeld character, has her as a single mom still close with her ex-husband (Clark Gregg), and her clueless…

Alice Cooper Lied

We have all heard that classic rock anthem for those who are about to, or already have, turned 18 – or maybe sixteen if you just wanna drop out ’cause really don’t care. We all have heard the promise that “school is out forever”, and for some of us, that is true. However, for the rest of us whom are not happy working at Mickey D’s for the rest of…

Old Spice Odor Blocker Body Wash: Deo Fresh + Deo Sport (10 Fl. Oz Size)

It’s been a little while since we had the chance to provide coverage for an Old Spice product, but we were lucky enough to get a box of ‘shwag from the company. This box included Proctor & Gamble’s latest two additions to the Old Spice line – the Deo Fresh and Deo Sport Body Washes. There are a number of distinct elements to this line that will ensure that Old…

Naughty Bear (Xbox 360)

I personally like when different companies marry “cute” with absolute intense, gory, or otherwise horrific themes. It’s a nice chiaroscuro, and one that livens up typically played-out genres and styles of games. Naughty Bear does just that, setting players in control of the titular character that has been utterly spurned by Daddles, whom is having a birthday party. Instead of keeping eir mouth shut, Naughty Bear looks to wreak revenge…

Hennessy Black (Cognac)

Cognac recently has caught the eye of a new generation, the sophistication of the image of a cognac drinker ; the taste of the drink itself are the largest contributing factors. Hennessy Black brings something new to the table, a smooth dark Cognac with hint of oak and cinnamon puts a sexy dark twist on a classic drink.

Chuck Gnome; or how much will travelocity sue for? (iPhone Game)

Lately I have been testing out a new game that just hit the AppStore called, Chuck Gnome. It is a visual treat for sure, and the game play couldn’t be easier/crack candy coated, but it does leave me asking one question; Does Travelocity know about this? I know it’s unfair to lump all Gnomes into a group, I mean Travelocity wasn’t the first place to feature a Gnome wearing a…

The Good Guy (DVD)

Very few in the way of romantic comedies can more largely be enjoyed by a movie-going audience. In fact, late-nineties/early aughts films in the vein, including Bridget Jones’ Diary or My Big Fat Greek Wedding seem incredibly dated. The Good Guy, a romantic comedy featuring Alexis Bledel as a person in charge of eir destiny, matched up with both mogul (Scott Porter) and timid one (Bryan Greenberg). The tension that…

Evans Blue – S/T (CD)

I must admit, that I sometimes become confused with all the different bands that are coming forth with a newer rock type of sound. A few years back, there was some semblance of differentiation between them – one could understand what songs were Disturbed, which were Godsmack’s, and which ones Papa Roach cut. However, I’m seeing (or hearing) a little more collusion of these different styles in current rock music.

Flametal – Heavy Mellow (CD)

In the last few years, there have been a number of different iterations of metal that really freshen up the genre. I recall a few years back, for example, reviewing a collection of metal songs for kids. This time around, metal tracks are given the flamenco treatment. Where fans lightly into metal will know a few tracks on “Heavy Mellow” (such as Megadeth’s “In My Darkest Hour”, Ozzy’s “Bark At…

Raptor Safari (Facebook)

If you have read any of my reviews of Facebook games you may have noticed that I typically do not like them. Personally the majority of them seem like nothing but graphic versions of pen and paper RPGs (such as Dungeons and Dragons) minus the imagination and social stigma and after playing so many of them my patience has been worn out. To call them video games is something of…

Space Empires: Battle for Supremacy (Facebook)

Social network games tend to be something of a breed all their own. Truthfully, I can barely tolerate the vast majority of them. However, I am aware that my opinion is the minority when it comes to this subject, and I cannot deny that these pseudo video games have a big market. The newest of these games Space Empires: Battle for Galactic Supremacy, sticks to familiar formulas and really doesn’t…

Pages Review or; How Far Did The Apple Fall? (iPad)

So, I recently picked up a copy of “Pages”, Apple’s word processor, for the iPad to review. I have been tinkering with it for a few days now, and I’m going to tell you what I think about. What? You don’t wanna listen to my opinion? Too bad; you’re reading it, so it won’t matter what you are listening to. This App, much like most things Apple, is done in…

Saving Grace: The Final Season (DVD)

Saving Grace was a series that I felt was ended too abruptly. The show itself premiered in 2007, and only got 3 full seasons before it was taken away from viewers. This DVD set, released by Fox, captures the last 19 episodes of the series. During this season, Grace (Holly Hunter) starts off fighting against a terrorist plot (“We’re Already Here”), looks into the suspicious death of a court reporter…

The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It (DVD)

There are a number of different films that have mashed together the corpus of a specific genre. The Wayans Brothers have literally made a career of it, and The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It looks to be a film that improves on the spoof films that preceded it. While obvious from the film’s title, this Craig Moss production is a sex-charged romp through…
