Gene Siewing – the St Louis DJ and producer now making serious waves in Berlin – keeps the momentum going for the 2nd release on his new imprint. Intent Recordings looks set to be a buy-on-sight operation, prizing quality over quantity, and on a mission to provide music aimed firmly at the dance-floor, whatever the genre.  As such, it’s the perfect outlet for Gene’s own productions – a conduit for the grooving, funk ‘ n’ disco infused house sound that he is fast becoming known for.

Lead track Drastic Measures is a deep burner that will get you in the mood for a . Gene pays respect to the 90s vibe he grew up with but remaining on point for 2013 – a surefire destroyer for clued up dance floors. And to prove his chosen home is well represented, the remix comes courtesy of Berlin techno royalty Ed Davenport – the “Davenport Filtration“ rework tweaked and honed into a lean technoid detonation that provides an essential new take on the material.

What’s more, Siewing brings two completely fresh tracks to the release – Divine Presence is a mid tempo chugger built around a sweet hook, and features vocals from the man himself – picking up where he left on his collaboration as one half of Chubby Dubs.  Last but by no means least isHold On – a slice of funked-up house that brings the soul back in spades, party thanks to Gene’s incredible ear for the right sample – born out years scouring and digging vinyl in the States and Europe.  Stay locked on Intent Recordings – this is just the start.
