The All American Rejects Premiere Official Music Video

The All-American Rejects have just premiered the video for explosive single “Gives You Hell” on Yahoo! Music. Directed by Marc Webb, the video was described by the band as a neighborly quarrel between two completely opposite households, the square versus the raucous rockers, both of which have front-man Tyson Ritter as the head of the house. The trials and tribulations between the Rockers and the Preps unfold as the video progresses with an unexpected ending. Continue reading “The All American Rejects Premiere Official Music Video”

Chris Hicken / Cantinero Continues To Succeed After Release of “Better For The Metaphon”

An immediate contender for the hearts of discerning, literate indie music fans around the world, British born, New York based alt-pop singer/songwriter Chris Hicken—better known to his growing legion of fans as “Cantinero”—entered the highly competitive fray in 2004 with Championship Boxing, his critically acclaimed Artemis/V2 Records debut whose title was a not so subtle metaphor for the successful battle for his creative sanity after years of ups and downs in the music industry. Cassettes Won’t Listen has a new blog on MTV about Independence

Cassettes Won’t Listen has a new blog that will be appearing on MTV2’s
Subterranean at www.subterraneanblog.com.  It’s going to offer advice to
musicians about the DIY ethic.  Both in his role as an artist and at his
day job as Director of Marketing at Def Jux (whose mantra, Independent as
Fuck, rang with a sharp clang upon its launch near the beginning of this
decade), Cassettes Won’t Listen (a/k/a Jason Drake) has a lot of
experience on how to accomplish one’s goals individually on a slim-line
budget.  The blog will be a mixture of advice, interviews and a “Dear CWL”
section.

In addition, the Sunday Mensah-directed video of “Freeze and Explode” will
appear on MTV2 this Thursday, November 6th.  It follows the break-up of
two news co-anchors live on the air.  Set in 1981, Jason Drake is featured
in all the male roles as lead anchor, sportscaster and weatherman.  This
humorous send-up is a bright contrast to melancholy of “Freeze and
Explode
”. Continue reading “Cassettes Won’t Listen has a new blog on MTV about Independence”

The Bloody Irish Boys – Drunk Rock (DVD)

It has been a long time since we have had a chance to cover The Bloody Irish Boys. We had a chance to review and interview them when their CD “Drunk Rock” came out, and we just received the full retail version of their first DVD. Uniting a video component to the cuts of “Drunk Rock”, the first thing that viewers will be able to see with “Drunk Rock” is that Shayne and the rest of the act have crafted videos that really highlight specific phrases, instrumental arrangements, and pieces of the song which the video correspond. The video quality may not be that of an Image Entertainment or an Eagle Rock release, but is still very clear and crisp. Any weaknesses that may be present in the video side of things is more than made up for with the audio, which is crystal clear throughout all of the cuts on the disc.
