The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: Volume 3 / 2008 Paramount / 660 Minutes / http://www.paramount.com /

With the new Indiana Jones movie coming out very soon, it makes tremendously good business set to release the final installment of the “The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones” box sets.  What individuals may not know that, while this boxed set closes out the episodes that were actually aired, that George Lucas had over forty other episodes planned out that never saw the light of day. For individuals that were not previously familiar with the show, The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones had more of an educational and historical focus to the episodes than the original movies did.

However, the narrative and storytelling elements of these episodes were of a high enough quality that individuals will not be bogged down with all of the historical information that is present. The set is constructed in an interesting way, which means that each DVD has one original episode of the show. Coupled with this episode are a number of different featurettes and additional things that further establish actors and a greater context for these actors to work in. While some of these featurettes cover major figures in history, such as Edith Wharton, Ho Chi Minh, Woodrow Wilson, and Al Capone, there are some documentaries and videos that showcase lesser known figures in history.

The tenth DVD provides individuals with overarching features that flitter around the general subject material. I really wish that more old shows from the time frame when The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones was out were given such an intricate treatment. If that was to happen, interest could be drummed up for a show, even if that show had been off the air for over a decade. The amount of information that is present on this 10-DVD set is enough that it will keep individuals interested for months to come, so if you are interested in history or just in Indiana Jones, this DVD set is a must buy. The one place that I could see the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones expand on would have to be the series-wide discussion and featurettes that could be present. If there were new documentaries of this vein present on each volume of “The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones”, the resulting sets would be that much strong. Give this DVD set a go, there is just too much in the way of information to pass up on.
