The Pussycat Dolls – When I Grow Up / 2008 Interscope / 2 Tracks / http://www.pcdmusic.com / http://www.interscope.com /

“When I Grow Up” is the new single by The Pussycat Dolls. The track will undoubtedly be the big hit of the summer, but why? The track is a high-energy romp that blends equal parts Gwen Stefani (“Wind Me Up), later Britney Spears, and throws in some newer styles – the track takes on a little bit of Rihanna and Fergie here too. The lyrics on the song do not very too terribly much, but this track is destined to bring individuals to the dance floor rather than get them to think. The bridge is further bolstered up by a synth line that, while rooted in the coldness of the eighties, follows in the trend of a number of other R&B tracks. “When I Grow Up” ends before the four minute mark and should show individuals that The Pussycat Dolls are ready for another round in the limelight. I would personally like to hear a remix of “When I Grow Up”, especially if a rapper – I’m thinking someone like Ludacris – would be able to further differentiate the track, and give a little bit of variation to what is otherwise a solid track. Give the disc a spin, or just wait until the track is on rotation.
