Rendering Issue

Hey all, James here from NeuFutur. Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a minor rendering issue present with some of the pages. I’m currently fixing what I can, but if anyone would like to help, just comment any page that looks wonky. I’ll get to it whenever I can.

I Am The Avalanche – S/T (CD)

It is rare when a band puts their biggest hit as their opening track; when a band is newer, like I Am The Avalanche it may just be the smartest move that they could do. With a bouncy bass line and a mixture between screaming and smoothed-out vocals. The production on tracks like “New Disaster” is strong and sure; when the track moves between the different speakers, one knows that…

Deadliest Catch – Season 5 (DVD)

I have managed to ignore the seemingly inexplicable pull of the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch up until now. Watching a show about fishing sounds about as exciting as… well, watching someone fish. Man was I ever wrong!

I Am The Avalanche – S/T (CD)

I Am The Avalanche start out this self-titled disc with an intensity that reminds one of Vinnie Caruana’s previous band The Movielife. The overall sound of the disc’s beginning track “New Disaster” is still inexorably linked to pop-rock and feels groomed for popular radio, but there is no denying that the music of “Dead and Gone” has a certain edge to it that just was not found in Vinnie’s previous…

Tom Clancy Splinter Cell: Conviction (Xbox 360)

It seems as the years pass on a video game franchise, that there is always a tendency to begin to let inertia take over and for subsequent releases to merely rehash what was revolutionary years ago. While the Splinter Cell line never got to that point, Ubisoft has allowed the developers to take Sam Fisher’s story in a drastically different way. Where there was a decidedly stealth-heavy component in previous…

I Am Ghost – We Are Always Searching (CD)

I Am Ghost – We Are Always Searching I Am Ghost – We Are Always Searching / 2005 Epitaph / 9 Tracks / http://www.iamghostmusic.com / http://www.epitaph.com / Reviewed 14 October 2005 Coming out much more like the Eurhythmics than the Nekromantix, the smooth vocals really provide a contrast with the rapidly increasing fuzziness of the instruments during “The Dead Girl Epilogue: Part One”. When the band actually gets into their…

Breckenridge Summerbright Ale (Beer)

After we opened up the beer side of the alcohol review section, I found myself in a serious quandary. We were receiving some seriously full-body beers, and were not getting too much in the way of more mild or properly seasonal types of efforts. The Summerbright beer is the perfect middle ground between these tremendously deep and full-bodied beers and the more familiar, macro styles of portable bread. Saying that,…

The Hypstrz – Live At The Longhorn (CD)

With all the energy of the Ramones, The Hypstrz seem to “Englishify” the original Ramones sound enough to re-cast all their tracks in a favorable veneer. With tracks crashing into each other all willy-nilly like, the live songs here have a studio sensibility to them that belies their freshness and spontaneity. Crafted in such a way that ensures listeners will not be tired, the average Hypstrz track hovers right at…

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (Playstation 3)

EA Sports’ latest efforts in the soccer realm may just be the best in-genre that I have ever played. Instead of being a reskin of FIFA 10, there are a number of serious steps taken with this title. The amount of uniqueness brought forth soccer sims by this title is simply stellar, as individuals can expect to play as any one of nearly 200 different national teams. Furthermore, the inclusion…

The Hybrid – Demo Days (CD)

With a rushed style to it, The Hybrid, a local band from Greencastle, Indiana, comes out with their first disc. Coming through with 13 tracks, of which two are original songs, we mainly get a view of The Hybrid as a band that does a lot of covers. This isn’t necessarily the case, as the band is getting a number of originals, but certain things can be said about their…
