With 32 hours worth of episodes, the only thing missing from the just –released Empires DVD box set is a diploma in studies of ancient civilizations.
The History channel staple, now on 14 DVDs, includes episodes from Rome: Rise and Fall of an Empire; Engineering an Empire; Ancients Behaving Badly; and Barbarians. The series gives an in depth, though thoroughly entertaining look at the rise, and in many cases, fall of these empires, from the military power to the government structure.
The box set also comes with a slew of extras, including behind-the-scenes featurettes of the first season of Engineering an Empire, Egypt, Rome, Barbarians; the documentary Modern Marvels: Barbarian Battle Tech; and an episode of A&E’s BIOGRAPHYof Genghis Khan.
