Keegan DeWitt has released a free remix EP of the two songs on his recent limited edition 7-inch single, Two Hearts/Reluctance. The EP is now available as a free download here and features remixes of “Two Hearts” by Tallest Trees and Myrryrs, as well a remix of “Reluctance” (featuring Isaaca Byrd of The Bridges) by Wild Cub (the moniker under which DeWitt DJs and regularly releases a free mixtape). The Tallest Trees remix can be downloaded directly here. The Two Hearts/Reluctance 7-inch was released December 14, 2010 via Theory 8 Records.
DeWitt, who was recently named as one of PasteMagazine.com’s ’10 Best New Solo Artists of 2010,’ has also made the stems for each song available on his website and invites fans to create and share their own remixes.

Both songs on Two Hearts/Reluctance were written this summer while DeWitt toured in promotion of his recent Nothing Shows EP (released in July exclusively through Daytrotter). The tracks find DeWitt moving in a notably different direction than either the EP or his 2009 debut full-length, Islands (Izumi Records). The driving, dance-inflected pop of “Two Hearts” follows in the footsteps of Nothing Shows’ propulsive, rhythmic closer “Hearts Beat Loud” and the delicate, shimmering uncertainty of “Reluctance” might be the prettiest song he’s penned. Two Hearts/Reluctance also continues DeWitt’s passage from a solo singer/songwriter to a collaborator: the songs were written to be played live with his current touring band of Byrd, Matt Shaw (Hymns), Jeremy Bullock (Pico vs. Island Trees), and Dylon York (Band Marino), who back him on the recordings. Both songs will be included on an upcoming EP to be released later this year.
Former Brooklynite and native of Portland, OR, DeWitt is also a noted film score composer whose work has appeared in multiple critically praised films, including Dance Party, USA and Quiet City (SXSW selection, Critic’s Pick in The New York Times and an Independent Spirit Award nominee). Most recently, he scored this year’s Cold Weather, another SXSW-standout that caught the attention of Variety, The Los Angeles Times, InterviewMagazine.com, and The Hollywood Reporter, and which was recently picked up by IFC Films. Cold Weather will see its IFC Films premiere on February 4th in New York, NY.
