On June 6, BLONDES return with the Business / Pleasure 12″, the second in a three part series on NYC’s RVNG Intl label exploring duality concepts. The two 12″ sides were performed and recorded live without overdubs while the duo was stationed in Berlin between European dates this past winter. Both “Business” and “Pleasure” let the melodic textures breath before layers of synth, sub bass, and percussion are marched out and into the deep pockets of these late-night, hypnotic house burners.
BLONDES are also pleased to release their video for “Pleasure,” directed by video artist Farley Gwazda. Assembled entirely from animated gifs – scientific diagrams, mathematical figures, representations of data, and renderings of simulated systems, this video appropriates images meant to serve as a rational demonstration of logical concepts and transmogrifies them into a cosmic trip.
In the same way that BLONDES use analogue instruments to humanize electronica and create psychedelic soundscapes, this video explores irrational paths to knowledge and investigates how information is processed into meaningful experience.
The band will be performing a run of dates in May and June in Europe and North America, including appearances at Primavera Festival in Barcelona, MoMa in New York City, and We Love at Space in Ibiza with Caribou.
