After wrapping up his annual solo outing on the Where’s The Band? Tour and a handful of dates with his band BAYSIDE including last weekend’s MUSINK festival in SoCal , ANTHONY RANERI, lead vocalist/guitarist, is ready to get back on the road in support of his debut solo EP New Cathedrals, which was self-released on his own Gumshoe Records earlier this year. Supporting him on his Northeast and Midwest headline tour will be vocalist/guitarist Steve Soboslai of Punchline. The tour will kickoff at Altar Bar in Pittsburgh on April 19th, work its way out to the Midwest, and return to the Northeast, concluding at T.T. the Bear’s on April 29th.
From the Americana-tinged country of lead track “Sandra Partial”, to the instantly memorable “Lead, Follow, Fall”, to the reggae of the closing track “Please Don’t Leave”, it’s quite apparent that this EP is no Bayside record. “First and foremost, it should be made clear that Bayside is not only still a band but will always be my priority,” Anthony Raneri explains. His ability to standalone without a band backing him has been indisputable by the release of his critically-acclaimed solo debut. Alternative Press declares, “Raneri ties everything together well, establishing a solid foundation for presumably a far more expansive and demanding full-length”. Absolutepunk adds, “New Cathedrals strays in several different ways, but at the foundation is a man who is at the top of his game in songwriting – Bayside or otherwise”. ThePunkSite reaffirms, “If anyone ever doubted Anthony Raneri’s diversity as a musician, this is solid proof that he’s comfortable with breaking the Bayside mould”.
In addition to being the singer, songwriter, and guitarist in Bayside for the past eleven years, Raneri has been a permanent fixture on the annual Where’s The Band? Tour and has spent every other summer sweating on the Vans Warped Tour. He’ll be working a double shift this summer on Warped since he’ll be performing with Bayside and doing his solo acoustic thing on the brand new Acoustic Basement Stage.
You can catch Anthony next month on his solo headline tour or throughout summer on Vans Warped Tour. New Cathedrals was released on January 17, 2012 via Gumshoe Records. Tickets for his solo dates can be purchased here: http://www.anthonyraneri.com/
