“Channel Orange, his beautiful first full-length studio album, will be released this month, and it’s rife with the sting of unrequited love, both on the receiving and inflicting ends. Mr. Ocean, 24, is an extremely unflashy songwriter, avoiding big proclamations and broad brush strokes, instead leaning on conversational gambits and the power of detail. He makes warm, cloudy soul with echoes of Stevie Wonder, Prince and Pharrell Williams…” – The New York Times
“His official debut gives prominence to his songwriting prowess and sonic versatility, as he intertwines the parallel styles of soul, R&B, jazz and even a bit of funk. Ocean feeds his appetite for different sound types by focusing more on sonics than structure and lacing Channel Orange with a mixture of bass lines, electronic synths, keys and flowing melodies. And don’t forget: this is Frank’s debut album.” – Billboard
On the heels of the announcement of his imminent new LP, Channel Orange, due July 17th for Island Def Jam, Frank has announced that he will be performing as the musical guest on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this Monday, July 9th. Fallon was the first to host Odd Future in early 2011, making the show a natural fit for Frank’s national television debut. Frank will be backed by Late Night’s house band The Roots. Tune in this Monday for a glimpse of just how powerful Frank Ocean’s performances are.
