The first official single from Hidden Orchestra, ‘Vorka” is now streaming (above).
Premiered by The Line of Best Fit, “Vorka” is taken from the double A-side single “Vorka”/”Spoken”, which is out on September 11th. Hidden Orchestra’s second album, ‘Archipelago’, drops October 2nd.
The core quartet of Hidden Orchestra is formed around the duelling drum kits, percussion and electronic pads of drummers Tim Lane and Jamie Graham, completed with piano and violin from Poppy Ackroyd and Acheson’s bass and original samples. “Vorka” features guest cellist Su-a Lee (who also played on the first album), this time with a unique, shimmering hook played on the musical saw, woven in amongst her many layers of cello. The ethereal and other-worldly sounding track was inspired by band-leader Joe Acheson’s time working on a radio documentary about a Japanese sci-fi novel.
Look out for the premiere of “Spoken” soon!
US tour planned for early 2013 !!!
