This is a value-priced collection of different Garfield shorts. Each of these shorts has a specific season associated with it. Marked at $15, Garfield Show: Holiday Extravaganza contains over an hour of episodes. The video transfer is solid, ensuring that viewers will be greeted by the same crispness as they have while watching Garfield on television. The episodes do not seem cut or modified in any way, showcasing the amount of care that the company has taken in the translation. The two-part episode Home for the Holidays is present here, which takes a little from a number of standards in the holiday genre. I believe that the Thanksgiving episode (“Turkey Trouble”) is the best inclusion on this DVD. The hilarity of the Garfield crew attempting to pin down and serve up a live turkey will garner many a guffaw.
This is a perfect DVD for viewers that would like to have more in the way of a festival feel in the waning summer months. Make sure to check out Heir Apparent, an episode that breaks free of the holiday distinction and into the mystery realm. Simply put, this is a perfect gift for any children or fans of the Garfield franchise. It is available at well stocked chain stores and at online retailers. Here’s to hoping that other runs / seasons of the CGI Garfield ‘toon can be released on DVD. There are enough individuals that have grown up with Garfield that a season by season release would fly off of the shelves.
