Poolside starts out Caribbean Gold and provides listeners with a brief introduction to the eclectic style of Australia’s World Wild. The track ties together the laidback style of acts like Porter Robinson and Chromeo with hints of Random Access Memories-era Daft Punk. The alluring vocals are a perfect fit with a late-eighties / “West End Girls”-type of Pet Shop Boys.1526389_918069188234209_4555348594478978793_n

Coast to Coast is a similarly strong track with nods to Duran Duran and the Thompson Twins. There is a sunniness to this track that will have listeners bouncing along long after the track  has ceased to spin. For our money, Caribbean Gold may be the breakout track on the titular EP; there is a complexity present that will take listeners a number of listens to properly unravel. While it is easy enough to appreciate what is playing as a radio single, the maturity that is here showcases World Wild as an act that is wise beyond his years.

Jungle Kids is a fuzzier track that benefits with a hint more rock than had been heard anywhere else on Caribbean Gold. The track has a shuffling beat / clap style that is absolutely infectious; Jarrad is able to link vocal and instrumental sides in a fashion that marks another high-water point for this EP. Holidaze provides an emphatic ending to the EP; listeners will be provided with a set of influences and styles that take many bands a full album of material to fully express. Make sure to visit World Wild’s Facebook for the latest in information about this performer or just to get in on the ground floor; WW will be huge in the months and the years to come.
