The current nursing shortage in the United States is expected to get worse before it gets better. A huge percentage of the current working population is set to retire in the next decade, and this will lead to a greater need for healthcare professionals, especially nurses.
Luckily, universities like Maryville University are now making their nursing degree courses more accessible than ever before. It is possible to study for a nursing degree online, so can be done while working a full time job or looking after the family. And although 90% of registered nurses are currently female, men are also being encouraged to enter into nursing as an alternative to becoming doctors due to the shorter hours and more fulfilling work life balance.
