Gambling has been around for centuries now, in one form or another, it suffered plenty of changes throughout the years but, the people’s desire to have fun, and relax while playing a game remained the same. One thing that surely changed tremendously is the place where people are gathering to gamble.
In the beginning, the games were mostly organized right in the streets of the big cities, or in private rooms, and only later we started seeing more established gambling facilities coming to life, with a couple of playing tables, and a few hundred customers at most.

1. The Venetian – Macau
If you were expecting the biggest casino in the world to be from Las Vegas because the Strip is so famous then, this might take you by surprise. Designed like its sister casino The Venetian Las Vegas, the one from Macau is currently the biggest hotel and casino resort in the world.
It has a gaming space of 550,000 sq ft (51,000 m2), being one of the biggest casinos in the world by gambling floor but, if we consider the rest of the resort, we can easily rank it first on our list. The Venetian from Macau has a whopping total size of 10,500,000-square-foot (980,000 m2) making it the largest single structure hotel building in Asia but, also the 7th largest building in the world, by floor area.
This is more than just a casino; it has over 3000 hotel rooms, a number of 24 luxurious restaurants and bars, four swimming pools, and even three large shopping areas, that’s more than most entertainment areas in the biggest cities in the world. Since it’s a casino, it also has 3000 machines, and 870 tables,hosting hundreds of thousands of people every day.
2. WinStar World Casino – Oklahoma
The WinStar World Casino located in Oklahoma is probably the biggest casino in the world ranked by gaming space, with a size of over 600,000 sq ft (56,000 m2).But, because it cannot beat The Venetian from Macau at the other aspects, it only takes the second place.
The casino was first opened in 2004, and, after an expansion in 2009 its casino floor size went past 600k square feet, making it the biggest casino at that time. Since then, another hotel tower with 1000-rooms and a casino floor got built, securing this casino’s place at the top of the list.
The WinStar World Casino takes the first place when it comes to the casino with the most electronic machines since it has over 7400, with a wide variety of slots games, like Book of Ra and plenty of other popular ones. The casino also has 99 table games in total.
3. Foxwoods Resort Casino – Connecticut
This hotel and casino resort has a bit of longevity since it was built more than three decades ago, and, thanks to its huge resort size of over 9,000,000 sq ft(840,000 m2), and more than 340,000 sq ft (32,000 m2) of gaming space, it takes the third place on our list, being one of the biggest casinos in the USA but,also in the world.
The resort is consisted out of six big casinos that make up for a total of over 7700 machines and tables, putting it at the top of the casino resort with the most electronic machines in the world. Foxwoods has a total of more than 2200 hotel rooms, and several restaurants, one of them being the popular Hard Rock Café.
4. City of Dreams Casino – Macau
The famous casino and resort, City of Dreams from Macau, has a gaming space of over 420,000 square feet (39,000 m2) but, it only takes the 4th place on our list because of the reduced number of machines and tables that it is owning.
The City of Dreams has focused more on building a tremendous resort filled with a huge variety of entertainment possibilities, and that might be observed through the fact that they only have 2000 machines and tables in total, which is still a huge number but, not that big compared to some of the other casinos that are on our list.
The resort is nevertheless huge, having four towers, one of them being a Hard Rock Hotel, and two Grand Hyatt, with over 200 shopping facilities and hotel guest facilities on the resort’s premise.
5. Bellagio – Las Vegas
Bellagio is one, if not the biggest casino and resort in Las Vegas, and also one of the most notorious casinos in the world, thanks to all the movies that it appeared on, and, because of that, it deserves a place on our list, ranking 5th.
With 156,000 square feet of gaming space, and over 2500 machines and gambling tables, Bellagio it is undoubtedly a symbol for the gambling ecosystem in Las Vegas. Bellagio is the host of many big gambling events but, also the home of the Cirque du Soleil production, being one of the best casinos in the world.
There are many more casinos that deserve to be on such a list, some of them because of their extreme sizes, others because of the number of machines and tables,and others only because of their notoriety, and gambling events. But, we had to narrow it down to these five casinos that we consider to be the best and the biggest in the world.
