Altogether, Utah skiing resorts total 1,353 ski runs– that’s almost 25,000 skiable acres to be explored! This makes Utah a top skiing destination. It offers a variety of slopes to meet the needs of novice and experienced skiers.

So, here are five of our favorite Utah skiing resorts for you to peruse through. 

1. Deer Valley Lodging

Deer Valley lodging is the perfect choice for intermediate skiers. It offers 2,026 acres of skiing terrain, six mountains and has a super lift infrastructure. The runs are continually groomed to make sure they are always in peak condition.

Deer Valley prides itself on being the country park of Utah skiing resorts. Combining high-end restaurants and beautiful lodges with unbeatable service.

The resort is family friendly, and everyone is welcome to enjoy the skiing fun. The Deer Valley Grocery Café serves hot and cold meals every day that you can wash down with a cup of Port O’ Call.

2. Park City Mountain Resort

Recently linked with Canyons, Park City has America’s largest linked ski area. Here you can experience the benefits of two resorts! On the Park City side, you will find 1,335 hectares (3,300 acres) of ski terrain with 116 trails.

When combined with Canyons, the resort covers 7,300 acres (2,954) of skiable terrain accessed by 41 lifts. The ground mostly caters for the intermediate to advanced skier.

If you’re looking for off-piste action, Park City Mountain Village has the best shopping of all the Utah skiing resorts. There are plenty of restaurants, great nightlife and activities like bowling and theatres.

3. Powder Mountain

This well-kept secret, lovingly known as Pow Mow, is your best bet if you love freshies. It has an annual snowfall of 12.7 meters which covers its 2,227 hectares (5,500 acres) of skiable terrain.

Powder Mountain is pure back to basics skiing. There are 167 ski runs, 4 chairlifts, and 3 surface tows. If you are looking for high-quality snow without crowds or super steeps, then Pow Mow is for you.

The village is unpretentious and undeveloped. No fine dining or clubs here, just traditional accommodation and laid back cafeterias serving hearty food.

4. Snowbasin

Snowbasin is considered one of the most professionally run ski resorts in Utah. It offers 1,141 hectares of skiable terrain with 104 designated runs.

If you are a black run skier, Snowbasin provides 30% expert and 34% advanced terrain. But, there is a wide range of cruisers, with suitable terrain for novices too.

Despite not having on-mountain accommodation, Snowbasin offers plush day lodging. Many of the lodges were built for the Olympics and have very luxurious furnishings.

5. Alta

Pronounced AL-ta, this resort is a great location for beginners and professionals alike. It covers 2,200 acres (891 hectares), with 116 trails, extra off-piste powder lines, and 7 chair lifts.

The snowfall here is regular with around 14 meters per season, the quality of snow is outstanding. If you’re looking for more, Alta ski resort is connected via the lifts and slopes to Snowbird.

The lodging and facilities remain traditional and have a rustic charm. You won’t find an abundance of shops or nightlife in Alta,  it’s perfect for families or those who are purely into skiing.
