The sedate, touching opening to Owls & Lions’s new track, God Bless You & Protect You will immediately draw one in. The back and forth between the pair of vocalists pushes each to a higher plateau, as does the moment when the rest of the band kicks in (~1:20 mark). The second segment of this single has both vox intertwine in a beautiful fashion before shifting back to the close and cozy approach that began the effort. With such care taken, it’s no surprise that God Bless You & Protect You is one of the most honest and earnest efforts we have heard so far this year.
