On O Mesmo Filme, Ricardo Dias is able to blend a dark, brooding instrumentation with a weathered, energetic set of vocals. Building upon the late 1990s rock style of acts like Stabbing Westward and Fuel, Ricardo stands apart from other efforts being released this spring. The instrumentation on O Mesmo Filme is fantastic; sizzling guitar work rises and falls over the course of the track, dropping out at the right point to highlight the vox. The chugging, bass-heavy instrumentation that plays at the back of this single is a fitting chiaroscuro with Dias’s vibrant voice. While the song cuts off at the three minute mark, O Mesmo Filme will stick with listeners for long after.
