The release date for The Gunshy’s newest release, There’s No Love In This War, has been moved back to October 30. This album is, in my opinion, the best The Gunshy has ever put out, and certainly the most poignant. Here is a quick word from Matt Arbogast: SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur Magazine, where he has covered independent music, PC…
7 inch / 2 Songs / Sonic Swirl Records (SSR) The albums has 2 songs: Satan Superman and Dotbuster. I got this piece of vinyl for only 50 cents at Schoolkids Records, which is one of the only things there that is worth the price that Schoolkids charges. There are much better record stores in Athens, Ohio, including places like Outer Limits. This is good, fast, indy punk with vocals delivered…
Very Odd, Very indy minded music from California. Too bad that this tape is from 1993, and i do not know if the band is still together. Any info about this band would be greatly appreciated, and the person that gives me valid info will get a link on my index page. Now back to the tape. This band is female-leaded, and it is on GODCO tunes. This tape has…
Modern Life Is War – Midnight In America / 2007 Equal Vision / 11 Tracks / http://www.modernlifeiswar.net / http://www.equalvision.com Modern Life is War has been around for about five years. I know that NeuFutur is not unfamiliar with the act, as we have covered them on the Iowahardcore compilation and have picked up a few of their albums in the past. Saying that, it seems as if the band has…
The new album by Neil Young, Chrome Dreams II, will be released by Reprise Records on October 23rd. Speaking from a vacation retreat with his family, Young says it’s “an album with a form based on some of my original recordings, with a large variety of songs, rather than one specific type of song.” It comes at a creative peak for the artist, following the Greendale, Prairie Wind, and Living…
The CD has 14 songs ,was published in 97, and is on Flying Nun Records . GL is a 4 piece band from New Zealand. They have very decent Indy songs with excellent tempo changes, while still keeping a cohesive sound. The transcribing of the lyrics to the CD liner is horrible. GL can sound like all sorts of acts, going from hard rock to pop to Alt. Rock. “Nude…
Head over to http://music.aol.com/popeater to check out the world premiere of National Product’s ‘By All Means’ video. National Product, the Orange County by way of Hawaii, rock band is creating quite a stir these days. A runaway hit on HawaiiÂ’s STAR 101.9 even before the release of their debut effort, Luna on R&M Artist Records, the bandÂ’s song “Love Me” is still in heavy rotation five months after getting played…
Mekons – Natural / 2007 Quarterstick / 12 Tracks / http://www.mekons.com / http://www.touchandgorecords.com / The Mekons have been together for a period longer than most current youthful fans of music have been alive. While it may seem like an eternity to individuals just getting into music for the first time (this year marks the thirtieth since the band was founded), The Mekons are able to create in “Natural†an album…
Atlantic recording group KOOP has announced details of their upcoming North American tour. The dates celebrate the recent release of “KOOP ISLANDS.” KOOP – aka Oscar Simonsson and Magnus Zingmark – will kick off their concert schedule on November 2nd at New York City’s Hiro Ballroom, with dates continuing through a November 10th show at Los Angeles’ Barker Block (see attached itinerary). When performing, Simonsson and Zingmark magically transform KOOP…
This album is on Discovery Records and it was released in 1995 with 11 songs. This is Indy rock done by two bothers that are Australian. They sound only like one other Aussie band, and that is Midnight Oil. Their influences also include Bowie, and Elvis Costello. This is slow tempoed music. The vocals are alright, but the whole presentation of the music is incredibly boring. The two brothers write…
I notice about this tape is that the sound is abnormally clear for being a bootleg. Really good old school punk with great riffs, clear vocals, and awesome drumming. The voice of the vocalist is awesomely strange. Fugazi makes me want to mosh, because they are so awesome, even on a bootleg. Fugazi is evidently also a very political band which always makes the songs a lot better. It gives…

Junkyard Prophet – The Price / 2007 Self / http://www.youcanrunbutyoucannothide.com / Junkyard Prophet has been under intense scrutiny for the politics that they espouse, especially those that are provided to individuals that are captive, stuck in a high school assembly. However, this review focuses on the music of “The Priceâ€, rather than the politics that surround the band. To get a good idea of how the band has evolved over…
Ghost Machine’s debut album, Hypersensitive, streamed online Five Finger Death Punch frontman, Ivan Moody, recently spoke with Blistering.com, where he discussed his side-project Ghost Machine in-depth. Ghost Machine is the side-project of Moody, along with ex-Clay People guitarist, John Stevens, and former Motograter drummer, Chris “Crispy” Binns. SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur Magazine, where he has covered independent music, PC hardware,…
1995 Fear Records, and it has 16 songs. These bands are one of the best examples of a old punk band coming back in the 1990s. An anomaly in this band is that they have a black guy in the band. All the parts of this band are great, with excellent vocals and great audible bass, and best of all, funny as hell, sexist lyrics. The songs are very catchy…
With their Mediaskare debut album ‘The Downfall’ in stores now, BELAY MY LAST have made five tracks from the album available for listening on their Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/belaymylast). With their stock quickly rising in the metal world, BELAY MY LAST’s unique fusion of brutal and melodic harmonies has sparked a buzz in the underground metal community that has them poised to be the next break out band. Letting the music…
Sound The Alarm – Stay Inside / 2007 Geffen / 12 Tracks / http://www.soundthealarmmusic.com / http://www.geffen.com / Even though the members of Sound the Alarm are young (they are in their twenties), the band has been around for quite a few years. The act formed when the members were still pre-teens; since then, they have been tearing shit up in Pennsylvania. With their album “Stay Insideâ€, released this year on…
We’re uber pleased to announce Seattle’s Throw Me The Statue to the Secretly Canadian family. Conceived and fronted by Scott Reitherman, TMTS has been delivering its wondrous concoction of cheapo sequenced synths, brass ensembles, fuzzed out beats and epic vocal melodies to various Seattle clubs for the past year. SargeantJohn Sargeant, writing on NeuFutur as Sargeant, is the founder and editor-in-chief of NeuFutur Magazine, where he has covered independent music,…
Self Released, 1999, 3 song demo. This 4 piece band from California is a kick ass metal band. They can be best described as thrash/death metal, and they’re songs are very catchy and will make you mosh. Typical great guitars with unintelligible vocals that make the whole genre good. They do a little it of symphonic metal, and then just rock balls out. The fallen are very talented, and they…
