The top 10 debut is the latest accomplishment in 5FDP’s hot streak, and has certified their status as one of the most important bands in hard rock today. The group has sold nearly 400,000 copies of their debut album, The Way Of Fist, and has shared the stage with bands like KoRn, Disturbed, Slipknot, Mastodon, Kid Rock, and other heavy hitters. 5FDP are currently bringing their exhilarating live show to…
Noid, England bandits The Heavy have found a kindred spirit in the brazen, fast-and-loose swagger of HBO’s ‘Entourage.’ The band was recently featured in Spin Magazine as a ‘Hot New Band’ – and with a full set of US tour dates booked, and a new album waiting in the wings, the boys from Noid are ready to catch fire. 11/2 || World Café Live || Philadelphia, PA 11/4 || Club…
SANGRE, who hail from California’s Inland Empire area, have recently taken to the studio with MIKEY DOLING (Soulfly, SNOT). The recording sessions yielded two new tracks that any fan of metal should enjoy: “Serpentor,†and “Forever I.†The tracks are available for streaming via the band’s ReverbNation profile, located at http://www.reverbnation.com/sangremetal. Vocalist Henry Sanchez described the collaborative process: “[Mikey] heard things that we as a band don’t normally hear because…
Imagine Jello Biafra being introduced to Atari Teenage Riot and Coal Chamber. Well, that is probably the least inaccurate comparison I could make for The Faux, so I guess we can keep it. Until the very digitized vocals of Jo come creeping into the track, I am personally not sure whether or not The Faux stole “Instrumentalâ€, the second track, from a Nintendo game’s midi program. “Cold and Mechanical†is…

From people aged 5 to 80, you can not believe how much praise I had already heard about this EP even before I was given a copy by Danny Boyer, a member of the band. Not having any contact information or a tracklist, it was sheer luck that I saw Danny at another local show, so if you happen to see any errors, they are all his problems. Seriously. “Full…
Los Angeles based LoveHateHero have announced they will join Eyes Set To Kill’s previously announced Revolver sponsored headlining tour. The band is currently touring in support of their recently released new album, “America Underwater”, which hit stores this week through Ferret Records. LoveHateHero’s third full length release focuses more on its well-developed vocal melodies and cleanly polished hooks, clearly showing a band that has matured and hit its stride. If…

In continuing with the beer-fueled dirty punk rock that Diaphragm Records is known for, Fat Ass comes out with their debut album, “We Have Come For Your Mothers.†Getting dirty with their bar chords, Fat Ass comes out with a set of vocals that is a distinct mixture of Tim Armstrong and the vocalist from Hilljack. Instead of taking up a standard and running it into the ground, like their…
In early 2009, a kuduro phenomenon swept the nation and Portuguese superstars, Buraka Som Sistema, ushered in the movement. Now as the year begins to wind down, the band that became infamous for their live show at Coachella 2009 makes its way across the US to bring fans to the dance-floor for one more sweaty shake down. BSS will start the tour off proper at this year’s destination Halloween event,…
The time has finally come. After years of touring and building buzz, iLL-literacy is preparing the release their debut musical effort, IB4the1 (“I Before The One”). The album will be released in three separate pieces, which the group refers to as “chapters.” Each chapter will be released for free online six months apart. With the first chapter, IB4the1.1, quickly approaching, iLL-Literacy is proud to release the lead single, “Gentlemans Kool-Aid,”…
The Fatal Mistake play a brand of emo-punk music that is reminiscent of “1039”-era Green Day just as it looks toward the throaty vocals of Tim from Rise Against. The drums immediately stand out, whether it is through the time keeping of the opening track “Best Befriend” or the opening to the title track. What really comes as a surprise is Russ’s blistering-fast bass lines on the latter track, which…
To build upon the early success of LOSING SLEEP, iTunes released a special deluxe version adding the “She Is Love†video, rare B-sides, acoustic versions, and live tracks. The album was originally released digitally on May 12th (one week prior to its release in the physical marketplace) and immediately took over the top spot at iTunes. The album built on the success of “She Is Love,†now in its 8th…

Chapel Hill’s The Love Language began in 2007 as lead singer and songwriter Stuart McLamb found himself living with his parents after a particularly disastrous break-up. He rented a storage space, borrowed some gear and started recording the album on a 4-track. He passed the songs around, and when he received an invitation from The Rosebuds to kick off their Life Like tour, he formed a band with six of…
Using Nintendo-game backdrops (at least, thats what they sound like) as a background for their vocals, Far Rad immediately win my heart. The vocals on “Cellar†are reminiscent of the now-defunct Unicorns and an audible Steve Lieberman. Almost breaching the wall between rap and rock, “Beteleuse†has Spike Jonze, Frank Zappa, and Atom and His Package form a Voltron-like creature, gaining strength from the noisy chorus and linear-to-a fault stanza.…
As previously announced progressive rock band Osada Vida returns in November with their third full-length album entitled “Uninvited Dreamsâ€. As it was with their previous releases („Three Seats Behind A Triangle†2007 and “The Body Parts Party” 2008), Osada Vida manifests a wide variety of influences and styles: symphonic prog-rock, neo-prog, prog metal, alternative rock and metal. “Uninvited Dreams†is yet another concept-album that draws from the tradition of ambitious…
Railway was one of the most promising German heavy metal groups in the 80’s – their first three albums released at that time became true classics of the genre. Although their career had its ups and downs, the band finally managed to reunite in its original line-up in 2006, much to their fans’ satisfaction. And now, thanks to these exclusive re-releases of “Railwayâ€, “Railway II†and “Climax†you can once…
Where “A Day at The Farm With Farmer Jason†was a solid album, “Rockin’ In The Forest†even uses more complex arrangements and styles to get both kids and adults onto the same page. The tracks are oriented towards children, but even the subject material can be appreciated by both groups. The first track “The Forest Oh!†blends together Great Big Sea with They Might Be Giants into a track…
