Looking at the cover of this album, I was thinking that the comparison to Chromeo was without merit but then “Get With My Girlfriend†challenges “Needy Girl†for the most time that the lead vocalist uses a pitch-bender. Not to say the track is bad, but exactly the opposite: “Get With My Girlfriend†is a mixture of The Rocket Summer, Cher, Elton John and Josh Wink, creating a pop-influenced track…
The art made by Baltimore artist Dan Deacon is about community and how to organize and inspire it. From founding a now well-known art collective (Wham City), to organizing and running an annually sold-out DIY music festival (Whartscape), to conceiving, planning and curating a massive 60 person/30 band tour (Baltimore Round Robin Tour), it’s clear to see that community and bringing people together is the major theme of his work.…

Said guitarist Lord Ahriman in a recent statement issued via the band’s official MySpace page: “It’s been a really tough and hectic schedule for us during the past couple of weeks, but I shall not complain. It actually feels…
While the recording on “The Cost of Living†isn’t the most clear I’ve ever heard, the pseudo-grunge feel of the Ephmahs actually gains a little strength from the constant compression offered by the mix of the disc. Rolling strong for about a decade, the band is a cohesive unit that decides on a target and proceeds to attack it, rather than letting each of their members do their own thing…

The soulful singing of Guy during the entirety of “Prayer of Death†is something that touches on a number of American tradition. First and most present in Guy’s music has to be the blues roots that all tracks on “Prayer of Death†have. There are also obvious nods to the American singer tradition, which touches on artists like Woody and Arlo Guthrie, Phil Ochs, and countless other artists both famous…

In the last sixteen years, Enslaved has been a busy band. “Ruun†uis their tenth album in this span, and the disc’s first track “Entroper†shows that the band is not any worse from wear even after all these years. The extended instrumental opening during the track (it tops out at over a minute) allows the band to sink their claws into listeners’ minds. The screeched out vocals that present…
“Good Old War charms with a genuine feel-goodness. The album has no posing or forced trickery.†– Phil Ramone, Huffington Post “Together as Good Old War the trio have mastered the art of three part vocal harmonies and their lively and intricate songs are a throwback to the days when Crosby, Stills, & Nash ruled the rock world†– Alternative Press Acoustic folk trio Good Old War launches yet another…

I was not familiar with Markus Enochson in the slightest before putting on “Night Gamesâ€. The first track is “How Good Is Your Imaginationâ€, and the song acts as the perfect introduction. The song has a female set of vocals and really adds a quirky allure to the disc that is continued during the second track, “Keep On Getting By†(featuring Masayah). The second track has much more of a…

James attributes much of the release’s gained momentum to the presence of…

There have been a lot of mixtures of emo and hardcore to hit the market in the last few years. Enlow can be called a success. There are equal parts of both genres throughout “The Recoveryâ€, and an opening track lke “Drawing The First Line†really shows a complex style underlying what is actually a fun track. To sart off, there are so many things happening regarding the instrumental side…
