I was not familiar with Markus Enochson in the slightest before putting on “Night Gamesâ€. The first track is “How Good Is Your Imaginationâ€, and the song acts as the perfect introduction. The song has a female set of vocals and really adds a quirky allure to the disc that is continued during the second track, “Keep On Getting By†(featuring Masayah). The second track has much more of a…

James attributes much of the release’s gained momentum to the presence of…
Sick Puppies have just released streams of their video for their hit single Youre Going Down. The song comes off of their new album Tri-Polar which is available everywhere now. There have been a lot of mixtures of emo and hardcore to hit the market in the last few years. Enlow can be called a success. There are equal parts of both genres throughout “The Recoveryâ€, and an opening track lke “Drawing The First Line†really shows a complex style underlying what is actually a fun track. To sart off, there are so many things happening regarding the instrumental side…

The American Dream is truly becoming a reality for this group of young and talented Cuban artists who are barely adjusting to their life in the free world. German Pinelli, his wife Ana Maria Paez and his brother Ari Pinelli recently arrived in the United States, like many others, with just a dream and their talent. Along with three other members of their band, Tirso, Magela and Maykel, 3 de…
Montreal based Derelict have released their video for the track “Machete†online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93oc3CbRuMA. The video was shot in Brantford, Ontario by director Justin Peeler of Frontline Pictures. “Machete is about the violence going on around the world at any given moment. In the Western world we are lulled into a false sense of safety. Our cozy little cradle society shelters us from what’s really happening around the world and…
Enemy 13 starts out their “Self Destruction Is†with a tremendously fast bit of punk rock that is modified by the inclusion of double-bass drumming. The recording is a a lot on the fuzzy, slightly tinny side but the one thing that individuals will be able to hear throughout is the talent and intensity of the band. Couple that with a guitar riff that will bring individuals back to the…

I had presumed that Endwell was going to be another act that played a brand of Hawthorne Heights-like emo with their “Homeland Insecurityâ€, but in reality what results is a blend between the more metal-based hardcore of the current time and the emo style that is also large. The one thing that individuals will notice early on in the disc, specifically with their “The End†is that Endwell uses a…
Spin – “This promising Brooklyn trio exist in an openhearted world that’s far removed from their borough’s often too-cool posturing.” Relix – “This is art rock of the first caliber, with gorgeously morose piano and electronically driven jams that are as engaging as they are emotionally distraught.” Alternative Press – “sparking vocal melodies and shimmering guitars en masse” NPR’s All Songs Considered : “One of the most beautiful and moving…

Along the way, the Screaming Females picked up fans like Henry Rollins, Kristen Hersh, J. Mascis, rock critics Jessica Hopper, Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis and a million other people. Just last week they appeared on MTV’s It’s On With Alexa Chung! All that praise will not stop these three kids from hopping back in the van for another month long tour of the East and Midwest. They’re even throwing…
The way in which The End of the World start their “You’re Making It Come Alive†is interesting, as the interplay between the different constituent parts of the band opens up the track. The vocals actually diminish the richness of sound that “Crowded Rooms†starts listeners off with, as the vocals go forth and flatten everything behind them with an imperial hand. The early bars of “White Sands†bring The…

The opening of “Freak Waves†seems to give a nod to the grunge rock pushed forth by bands like Soundgarden and Kyuss about fifteen years ago; the vocals present on this track are perhaps the most obvious part of this. At nearly five minutes, the repetitive guitar lines are at the verge of turning most listeners off from the CD. With “Disjointedâ€, the band seems to bring disaster on itself…
