Jaguar – re-release of the album by one of most talented NWOBHM acts ever

Lost heroes? Living legends? Heavy metal veterans? I guess that all these phrases can used with Jaguar, the classic metal formation that stormed the British charts in the early 80’s. Being a part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, the band quickly gathered a large group of fans, selling thousands of records in England alone. Their career came to a halt after 1985, when the group decided…

YONLU Due out on Luaka Bop Records April 28th

The story of Yonlu has many angles. Yes, it is a story about music – of the continuing heart-spilling tradition of lo-fi troubadours, of post-rock’s melodic imprints, of an ancient sadness lurking in the new-century and manifesting itself as modern Bossa Nova. But it’s more than that. It is a story about how such music comes to be in a world where technology and communication hide feelings and emotion, but…

The Long Lost is the Sound of Love on Self-Titled Debut LP

“The Long Lost” is the sound of love – on so many levels and in so many ways that it’s hard to list them. Imagine back in the 60’s they decided to relocate to California with Caetano Veloso. And imagine if, once there, the pair slipped through a time portal whilst high on mescalin and came round in the late noughties, with the kind of production twists that would allow.…

John Petkovic and Cobra Verde continue to garner critical praise for new album!

Cleveland legends Cobra Verde’s first originals disc in five years — “Haven’t Slept All Year” is all over the map in sound and style. It opens with a badass riff (“World Can’t Have Her”), then detours into classic pop (“Wildweed”), glittery post-punk (“Riot in the Foodcourt”), wounded sing-a-longs (“Home in the Highrise,” “Together Alone”), woozy blues (“Wasted Again”) and raging, glorious rock. It’s been drawing great press notices since it’s…
