Summertime Fun! / 2008 Fox / 57 Minutes / http://www.hitentertainment.com /

I know that individuals like getting entire series of shows and typically look down when there are compilations of shows present on a DVD, but I really like what Hit Entertainment and Fox have done on Summertime Fun!. This is due to the fact that this DVD features five different shows – Barney, Angelina Ballerina, Bob The Builder, Thomas and Friends, and Fireman Sam – in the hour of show. This means that children are likely to stick through the entirety of the movie, instead of becoming less interested with each subsequent episode of the show.

If individuals already have a comprehensive collection of any of the shows present, individuals should see whether what his present on Summertime Fun! is what they already have. For example, Barney’s episode is “The Wind and the Sun”, Bob’s is “Dizzy Goes Camping”, Thomas’s is “Thomas and the Rainbow”, Angelina’s is “Angelina in the Wings” and Fireman Sam’s is “Twitchers in Trouble”. To make the value of the disc even greater, there is a sixth episode present, that being “Picture Perfect” from Fifi and the Flowertots. The episodes all total only about an hour, but chances are good that children will want to watch these episodes again and again.

The low price of this DVD will ensure that this could easily be taken around to different playmate’s houses and be used in a pitch, if the PBS affiliate is nonexistent or not showing children’s programming. Here’s to hoping that Hit Entertainment and Fox come up with more volumes of this series following a general theme; with this smorgasbord of different shows and episodes, kids will be focused in to the TV much longer than they would normally be.  If you are expecting a child or already have one, a purchase of Summertime Fun! should be in the cards, if it has not been bought already. While I don’t have kids yet, I’ll make sure that this DVD stays in my collection until that time when the fiancé and I have some reason to crack it out. Other individuals should take the same tack, and make sure that they have a DVD like this just in case.
