Pale hay coloration with a fair amount of carbonation. A thin head laces its way down the glass. Barnyard elements are given a further depth through the time spent in Chardonnay barrels. Eminently drinkable and pairable with a number of distinct cuisines, Call To Arms’ latest provides imbibers with enough twists and turns that two new sips are exactly the same. At points during each 375 ml bottle, bits of black pepper and even spicier teas can be picked up. It is the bits of grain and hay that represent the base of the beer, with wine, citrus fruit, and the slightest bit of hops.

The beer is so hazy that one will have difficulty seeing through their glass and it is precisely this unfiltered approach that pushes the brew to a higher plateau than one that had its essence stripped out. As the effort continues to warm up to room temperature, some of the rougher edges of this saison fades. The ABV is masterfully hidden; the flavors of the beer create enough of a tapestry that one will attempt to discern everything that is present rather than being smacked with a boozy taste.
