On Kid, Emmy Law is able to invite listeners in with a set of vocals that build upon the musical tradition of Ellie Goulding and Hayley Williams. The taut instrumentation on Kid walks a tightrope between emo and alternative rock. A surprisingly deep sound issues forth from the guitars and drums here; the echoing riffs that begin around the two-minute mark ensure that listeners stay engaged with the single. Smart repetition of the chorus and a strong response from the guitars throughout the single make this something that could easily slot into radio or playlist rotation. We’re excited to hear more from Emmy Law in the months and years to come. Watch the video for Kid below the jump.
