Yellow Sandcastle is the opening composition on Irina Imme’s This Little Girl. The track will immediately draw listeners in through honest and earnest vocals, which are paired with a bit of strumming guitar. The song is able to have tremendous gravity with little more than this dynamic, bolstered as it is with a hint of strings. The four-plus minute run time is more than enough to allow Imme to really stretch her wings. A wholly different, more rapid-fire delivery of vocals demarcates the two halves of the single.
Just Gotta Roll With It is our favorite track on This Little Girl. A positive message of letting things fall off your shoulders is tied to some sick piano work. The track could easily crossover to pop and alternative radio stations and playlists. It’s during this effort where listeners will fall in love with the vocals that Imme lays down if they have not already.
When I Was Young changes things up by incorporating a bit of fuzzy guitars. It is a small shift up, but sets the EP off in a bold new fashion. Through the presence of a bit of The Cure to the mix, Imme is able to incorporate a bold new sound that we’d like to hear more from in any follow-ups to this extended play.
A Sky of Gray calls back to the days of The Beatles and later Apple Records fare. The interesting hook to this single has to be Irina’s poppy sound, which touches upon the work of performers like Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. This unique take on popular music further differentiates Imme’s music from the rest of the musicians attempting to garner greater attention for their projects.
