Maybe is a hooky emo-rock effort that takes the highest notes of Boys Like Girls and Mest and joins them to taut instrumentation. What results with Marquee Grand’s latest is a song that could easily slot onto modern rock radio / playlists. Take a deeper listen to Maybe and one will be rewarded with contemplative guitar lines, punchy bass notes, and splashy drums, a trio which imbue the composition with a richness that far outstrips what can currently be heard around the United States. The 2:00 mark is perhaps the best example of this, as dusky, intricate guitar lines and linked to echo-infused vocals. Three minutes marks the cut off for Marquee Grand here, but the cut will resonate with fans long after the band ceases to play.
