There are three things that most entrepreneurs want: a business that will always be profitable, the ability to travel, and the ability to scale up. The travel industry provides several evergreen sectors that can provide all of those benefits. Every season will see a certain amount of travel in every region and even in the slow season there will still be a tangible amount of travel happening worldwide. Still, not all travel-related businesses are considered “evergreen,” as some are mostly seasonal opportunities. With that said, here are four travel-related business ideas that can be lucrative year-round:

1. Mobile Mechanic

You have the option of travelling as a mobile mechanic because you can update your online listings to find new clientele in any densely populated area. Hypothetically, you could set up shop as a mobile mechanic in a major city and make enough to sustain your food and travel expenses with the odd jobs that will inevitably arise, without every paying any shop expenses. People are always looking for cheap mechanic work, but you’ll need to obtain the necessary credentials to show that you’re a licensed mechanic. You may also need to find motor trade insurance, depending on which area you’ll be operating in.

2. Travel Gear

Whether it’s the height of summer or the coldest day of the winter, all tourists and travellers need some kind of gear to make their experiences safer and more comfortable. There are several evergreen moneymaking methods that entrepreneurs can take advantage of in the travel gear sector. You can set up an e-commerce store that sells travel gear. Or, you could start a travel blog that earns affiliate commissions by recommending travel gear on third-party shopping platforms like Amazon.

3. Travel Agency

A travel agency helps to facilitate holidays and trips by assisting with the booking process for transportation, hospitality reservations, guided tours, and other accommodations. There’s a whole list of reasons why the smartest travellers regularly use travel agencies instead of handling everything independently, so you’ll be catering to a fast-growing market that’s only expected to expand even more during the next decade.

4. Transport

Of course, the most direct way to profit from mankind’s incessant desire to traverse the globe is to simply start a transport business. You could find an area that is in need of another shuttle service. There are many busy airports where an extra shuttle bus service could be profitable. You could also offer medium-to-long-distance regional trips from the airport to other cities. Likewise, you could start a vehicle rental agency that lets tourists rent cars on a daily and weekly basis.

The Travel Industry as a Whole is Mostly Evergreen

While the four business ideas above represent the main evergreen opportunities that will remain profitable in most populous areas, there are many other travel-related business and even ones that haven’t been thought of yet. For example, coming up with a new travel product could be a great way to create an additional residual income stream.
