One of the things that I used to busy myself with when I was in college was booking concerts of local bands. The one thing about booking a concert is that you have to always have a venue. There were a number of times where the venues that I used a few times outright told me that they did not want my shows at their place. Feeling a bit dejected, it always was a struggle to try and find a back up solution. It was so bad in fact that I ended up booking shows at about 10 places before I was through. I kicked around the idea of having my own place to hold concerts. Calhoun is a company that would have been able to help me by creating a structure to my specifications. This means I could have had a place that was built on land well outside of the city while having ample electricity necessary to power a PA, everyone’s instruments, and any sort of other diversions that I may have included. Durham Instruments would have been the place to check out for instruments to check out the sound intensity of various performances at this new venue.

I know you’re thinking – how would someone creating local shows have the resources necessary to get a new building built for them? Well, having a concession stand is a good way to defray a lot of the costs associated with the building, upkeep, and utilities associated with a new venue. Having foods for a variety of different dietary lifestyles is essential – Freedom Jars breakfast jars would have been a good way to placate vegans and those with gluten free diets while putting a bit of dosh in our pockets. Maybe one day I will come back to my hometown and have a venue like I wanted all those years back.
