“Come Thru” is the poignant new single from Indie-pop singer/songwriter Dynamyte. Although the lyrics allude to an ill fated romantic relationship, the origin of “Come Thru” came from a night where her friends bailed on her last minute. Dynamyte had nothing to do but think about other peoples commitments and values, vs. her own. She finished writing “Come Thru” a year later, alongside co-writers Myah Marie and Zak Waters. As a songwriter, Dynamyte aims to openly talk about her own experiences so her fans know they aren’t alone in their feelings. “Come Thru” is an honest look at being over someone’s behavior who makes promises they can’t keep. Dynamyte has crafted a catchy and empowering anthem you can’t stop listening to.

First and foremost, “Come Thru” is just plain cool, there’s no other way to put it. There’s something about Dynamyte’s silky voice that imbues a natural warmth into “Come Thru,” automatically imbuing an unmistakable wisdom into it. Dynamyte’s vocals aren’t as bothered as you’d expect them to be considering the songs subject matter. In fact, her almost blasé performance is what aids in “Come Thru” feeling like a statement more than a call-out. Dynamyte has the kind of voice that you’d want to listen to even if she was reading you an ingredients list. The raw power Dynamyte naturally possesses is why this song is so captivating. While she is singing about her own experience, it often feels like Dynamyte is one of your best friends who is finally telling you the truth, just in a dreamy Indie-pop way.

The melody of “Come Thru” is mellow and summery, balancing out the hard hitting nature of the lyrics. This laid back vibe is what makes Dynamyte’s artistry stand out. Rather than going for  a moody and brooding melody to amplify her disappointment, the tone of “Come Thru” is seductive and bright. Dynamyte lets the music speak for itself, creating a snapshot of what the other person is missing out on. The chorus is where the beats take on a chill and relaxed feeling while Dynamyte casually sings, “No I won’t tell you twice/Don’t go wasting my time/Baby come through.” The message cannot be missed, it isn’t hidden under overpowering beats, and never crosses into blame. “Come Thru” lays out Dynamyte’s feelings for the other person, while her confidence rises.

Dynamyte is rapidly carving a spot for herself in the Indie-pop world with lyrics that cut to the core. There’s no need to mess around, Dynamyte knows that her music will go farther the more honest and authentic she is. She’s right. Although Dynamyte is pleading with her lover to show up when they say they’re going to, it doesn’t feel like she’s begging. It’s more like, this is the last chance for that person to change their ways, because she’s already moving on. This is a scenario we’ve all found ourselves in whether we were in Dynamyte’s position or the other party’s. One of my favorite lyrics is, “Why you got no manners/Messing with my plans/I gotta raise my standards,” the truth in these lyrics is undeniable.

Dynamyte is at the beginning of a massive career. “Come Thru” is joining Dynamyte’s debut single “Show Me You,” a takedown of the effects of social media on young people. I can’t wait to see what she does on a larger body of work. Her expertly mixed tracks and prominent artistry has me salivating for an album or an EP. If you’ve been looking for an artist who’s going to keep it real with you, look no further, just listen to Dynamyte’s “Come Thru.”
