Full Spectrum
Full-spectrum CBD distillate products will include the full range of compounds found in the cannabis plant. If a full-spectrum extract is made from hemp, which contains no THC, then this will be missing from the final product. Depending on where you live in the US, it’s possible that all the CBD products sold in your state are legally required to be produced from hemp.
If you are looking to use the product recreationally, you will want to find a full-spectrum distillate made from a female cannabis plant. However, if you are looking for something to use medically or therapeutically, you might be better off with a zero THC solution (see below). A full-spectrum extract made from hemp will contain compounds other than CBD.
Zero THC Distillate
As the name implies, zero THC distillate is made by removing the THC from a full-spectrum extract of the female cannabis plant. In theory, there should be no difference between a zero THC full-spectrum distillate and a full-spectrum extract from a hemp plant. There are some subtle differences in the levels of various cannabinoids in each, but they are virtually indistinguishable.
Some people prefer to avoid zero THC varieties because the added manufacturing processes – removing the THC from the mix – add an extra opportunity for things to go wrong. There are also concerns among some people that using either selective distillation or chromatography can affect other compounds if they aren’t performed properly.
Broad Spectrum CBD Distillate
Broad-spectrum CBD distillate is designed to contain mostly CBD, but also includes some other cannabinoids and terpenes that are present in the plant. Usually, broad-spectrum CBD distillate is around 60% CBD and 20% other cannabinoids. The remaining content is other non-cannabinoids found in the plant, although this will depend on the strain of cannabis in question.
Hemp CBD Distillate
Across much of the United States, you can find CBD distillate for sale from sites like Cope CBD. In many states, CBD products are legally required to be made from hemp plants only. This ensures that there can only ever be the most minute traces of CBD in the final product. If you want to be absolutely certain that the product you order is going to be legal, make sure that you buy products sourced from hemp.
