Full Sail IPA

The beer pours a golden brown with an off-white head that sticks around for a decently long time. The beer has only a small noise of grass and light hop elements, a palette that expands considerably with the initial sip. The hops rise up in a nice crescendo, while there is a subtle sweetness that keeps the IPA from getting too bitter. The beer shifts and changes with each subsequent…

Patterson Pumpkin

Patterson Pumpkin is the first pumpkin-focused beer that we have had the chance to review so far this year. The imperial aspect to this pumpkin ale allows the beer to have a proper bite to it instead of focusing on the sweetness of the pumpkin. The beer pours a darkish amber / orange with a thick, off-white head that is slow to dissipate.

Bouncy House IPA

Smuttynose released Bouncy House last year in a Short Batch series, and has shifted production of this session IPA / American pale ale over to a more consistent format. The beer pours with a golden brown. There is a small amount of off-white head that rapidly dissipates quickly. The effervescence of the beer creates a lighter profile on one’s palette, while hints of hop and juniper come forth with each…

Thai Style White IPA

Upslope has changed up the constellation of flavors that one would expect from an India Pale Ale (IPA) with their latest canned effort, the Thai Style White IPA.  The beer pours with a head that lasts, with a body that is boldly yellow and slightly hazy / cloudy. The initial nose is a little bit sweet with hints of herbs.

Spinning Mule Robust Porter

Spinning Mule Robust Porter is the latest special release from Texas’s Cedar Creek Brewing. We sampled a sixteen ounce can. The beer pours incredibly dark (brownish-black), which poured with a persistent mocha / tan head. Definitely coffee and chocolate elements to Spinning Mule, an inclusion which gives the beer (and the porter style) a much-needed kick; there is a nice effervescence to this effort that helps establish the “robust”…

Cavatica Stout

Cavatica Stout is a dark and malty effort from Oregon’s Fort George Brewery, tipping the scales at 8.8% ABV. The beer pours a dark brown / black color with a tannish head that sticks around. The alcohol burn of the beer moderates a sweetness that pushes through at points.

EOS Hefeweizen

EOS Hefeweizen pours with a gold coloration and a thick head that settles slowly. The EOS Hefeweizen is the perfect spring beer, with a refreshing taste that expands upon a lager style with inviting hints of cloves, bananas, and hints of vanilla. Spiced notes occur at the periphery, giving the beer the complexity and legs that it needs to stay fun from beginning to end. The sweetness works well moderating…

New Belgium Gruit

Gruit is an eclectic effort that New Belgium has produced for their Lips of Faith series; the beer pours with a golden color and along-lasting, thick white head. The beer has a peppery and lemony flavor that provides imbibers with a different set of tastes with each subsequent sip. Gruit concludes with a slight hop bite and hints of malt. While the IBU level (3) is incredibly low, the inclusion…

The close-knit area in which Unity Vibration operates yields some amazing beers, and we were lucky enough to stop by during their hours to see where the magic goes down while drinking some of the most innovative beers that we have tasted. Southern Tier’s Goat Boy Review

Weizenbock beers are a different style than what many breweries are currently promoting, and I feel that Southern Tier really puts their best foot forward with their 7.5% entry, Goat Boy.

Saison-Brett 2014 Review

Saison-Brett 2014 is one of the most interesting and unique efforts that we have had the chance to review at NeuFutur. While it seems like a large subset of breweries are coming out with a saison or a farmhouse ale style for spring, Boulevard’s Saison-Brett is miles more complex and intricate of an experience. 2014’s Saison-Brett pours with a long-lasting white head and a hazy yellow-bronze color, yielding grassy, floral,…

The Bruery Sour in the Rye 2014 Edition Review

Sweet and without much a tart bite, The Bruery’s Sour in the Rye pours with a dark and dirty coloration. The effort’s head is substantial and slowly retreats. Sour in the Rye possesses a nose that focuses on citrus and bread / yeast, while the initial sip provides imbibers with funky, fruity, and barnyard notes.

Plum Island Belgian White

Plum Island is a tremendous beer for warm days, possessing a considerable lightness that makes it tremendously to pick up and quaff. The beer pours with a rapidly-dissipating white head, and a considerable effervescence. Grainy elements are present, representing the perfect palette for floral, coriander, and spicy elements to be shown.

Southern Tier Live Review

Live is a bottle conditioned pale ale, which utilizes 4 varieties of hops and 4 types of malts. There are substantial sweet and malty elements, while the hop notes become more prevalent as one continues to drink Live. The beer pours with no head and a very pale yellow to light copper color.

Glimmerglass Review

Glimmerglass is the latest seasonal release by Ommegang Brewery. It pours with a very pale yellow color, possesses a substantive white head, and has a sweet, fruity nose. The beer opens up to provide imbibers with a more peppery and citrus fruit flavor, while inserting a small amount of bitterness at the end of each taste.

Bam Noire Review

Jolly Pumpkin’s Bam Noire is a beer that looks to expand imbibers’ minds regarding the farmhouse ale style. The effort pours with a reddish-brown color, yielding a decently robust off-white / tannish head.

Abbey’s Single Beer Review

Abbey’s Single pours with a hazy yellow coloration and a considerable amount of carbonation. The whitish foam on the top stays throughout the beer. The light amount of bitterness that the beer presents is quickly moderated by sweeter fruit and malt elements. The fruit elements link together peaches and cherries along with a buttery and peppery end.

SweetWater Happy Ending 2014 Beer Review

The beer pours with a very dark coloration, and a solid tannish head. This beer has a considerable amount of sweetness, which is moderated by the inclusion of malt elements. The sugar and toasty elements provide additional variation, as does coffee and smoke notes. This considerable array of flavors ensures that an individual will have a considerably different constellation of elements each time that they open up a bottle of…

Abita Spring IPA Review

The latest Abita seasonal is a Spring IPA, a very approachable india pale ale that pours with a hazy, yellowish-amber coloration. The lacing in this beer is very thick and persistent; subsequent sips will yield great lacing down the glass.  The hop bite provided by the Spring IPA is due to the inclusion of Centennial and Amarillo hops, while there is a decent amount of sweetness that concludes each quaff…
