Re: Aktor is definitely one of the most intriguing bands on the entire Portuguese metal scene. Their extremely well-balanced mixture of industrial and thrash metal makes up for a true musical phenomenon, comparable to the style of such acts as Fear Factory or Mnemic. With “Zero Orderâ€, the group gave the world one of the finest releases in the history of modern metal, perfectly joining brutal heaviness with cybernetic melodies.…
Arthur von Nagel, bassist/vocalist and lyricist for San Francisco progressive extreme metallers CORMORANT, recently took time out of the band’s busy schedule to shed some light on Metazoa’s beautifully rendered, deeply complex lyrics and intriguing concepts. He comments, “The themes of Metazoa came together by accident. It was never a concept album, as the lyrics were written over the course of several years, while I was going through a lot…

What if the sound of wind through trees could be translated into human words? What is it saying? For WIND’S POEM by Mount Eerie, Phil Elverum spent almost two years out behind the house, at the edge of the woods, listening into the night and finding these words. Songs of impermanence, dark change, destruction, temporary blossoming, mortality, and an immense river of air tearing through the world make up the…

“Lumbering drums, jangling shakers, electronic squiggles, and lots of…ragged shouts accompany the strutting bass line and stomping guitar….it’s all just loose and playful enough to avoid coming across as overly nostalgic.” – Pitchfork Drink Up Buttercup have signed with Yep Roc Records and to celebrate are giving away the single ‘Even Think’, a fast-paced fist-pumper, driven by frenzied organ arpeggios and swelling vocal harmonies reminiscent of the sound of Brian…

EeL has an intense opening to their “People People†album that mixes amphetamine with vocal samples to come out with something that sounds like a better Dance Dance Revolution song.
