When you choose to come to Turkey for your dental implant surgery, there are a number of steps that will be involved as part of your all-inclusive treatment package.

Unlike other dental or non-dental procedures, dental implants can’t simply be installed in the one setting, rather there are a number of steps and a fair amount of time will be needed in between to allow a process known as osseointegration (where the titanium implant fuses with the jawbone and surrounding tissues) to do its thing.

There are three main parts that make up a dental implant, and they break down as follows:

— The first part of a dental implant is the implant itself. This is a small screw, typically made of titanium, which is screwed tightly in place into the jawbone. As the aforementioned osseointegration process kicks in, the titanium screw fuses and becomes one with the surrounding tissues. In some cases there may be some degree of jawbone degradation at play, which would make it unsuitable for housing the implant. In these situations, an additional bone graft procedure will be necessary before any more of the dental implant surgery can go ahead.

— On top of the implant goes the abutment. This is typically also made of titanium, and once it’s in place it’ll serve as the connection point between the titanium implant and the crown.

— The final part of the dental implant is the crown. The crown is the part that acts as the tooth itself, and will be custom made to fully replicate the shape, size, and colour of the surrounding natural teeth. Once in place, a crown will be completely indescribable from its neighbours, and is incredibly robust.

So now that we know what exactly a dental implant is, the following is a step by step guide to what you can expect when you come out to get your dental implants Turkey

Day 1: Arriving in Turkey
As previously mentioned, your dental implant surgery will take place over a number of steps. Therefore, two separate trips to Turkey, around 3 months apart, will be required over the course of your treatment.

It’s worth noting as well that as part of your bespoke all-inclusive dental implant treatment package, you’ll be provided with luxury 5* accommodation, your own VIP driver to collect you from the airport and transfer you between your hotel and the dental clinic, an English speaking translator to be by your side throughout your time in Turkey, and a designated patient coordinator, who’ll only ever be a quick phone call away to help with whatever you need, whenever you need them.

Upon arrival to Turkey, your VIP transfer driver will be waiting at the airport to collect you and take you to your hotel. Later on in the day, (or right away, depending upon the time of your arrival) you’ll be taken to the dental clinic to meet the dentist for a consultation and to have your measurements taken. When all is done, your VIP transfer driver will return you to your luxury 5* hotel.

Day 2: Installing the Implants
On the second day your dentist and his or her team will be hard at work putting your implants together. When they’re ready, your VIP transfer driver will be back to collect you from your hotel and take you over to the dental clinic, where you’ll have them fitted. Overall the whole process should take no more than around 2 hours max.

When all is done, your VIP transfer driver will be back once more to collect you and return you to your luxury 5* hotel where you can get some well needed rest and relaxation.

Day 3: Returning Home
On the third and final day of your initial trip to Turkey it’ll be time to return home. Your VIP transfer driver will arrive around 3 hours prior to your flight to collect you and take you to the airport. It’ll be around 3 months before you’re back for round 2, and in the intervening time you’ll be only a short phone call, instant message, email, or video call away from the aftercare team should anything arise and need attention.

Trip Number 2: Day 1
So after around 3 months of healing your implants should be nice and fused with the surrounding jawbone and gum tissues and it’s time to come back to Turkey. This time you’ll be in the country for around 5 to 6 days, and again, you’ll have a translator by your side and your patient coordinator looking after you for the duration of your stay.

Once again, a member of the VIP transfer team will be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive, and will either take you straight to your 5* luxury hotel, or to your dentist for a consultation and for any preparations for the coming days to be put in place. When done, your driver will be back to return you to your hotel.

Day 2: Getting a Mould of your Teeth
On day 2 your VIP driver will take you to the clinic to get a mould of your teeth taken. Your dentist and his or her team will then use this to make sure your crowns will be suitable. Again, once complete, your driver will arrive and take you back to your hotel.

Day 3: Preparing the Crowns
The third day will be spent by your dentist and his or her team of technicians checking the mould of your teeth and verifying that the crowns will suitably fit.

Day 4: Quality Control
The fourth day will be spent with lots of quality control to further ensure that they’ll fit nicely among your neighbouring teeth. As with the previous times, your VIP driver will collect you from your hotel and return you once it’s time to return.

Day 5: Fine Tuning
Day 5 will be spent fine tuning the crowns, giving them once last check over and making sure they’re good for the big day.

Day 6: Fitting the Crowns and Returning Home
For the final day of your treatment, you’ll be collected by your VIP driver and taken to the clinic to have the crowns fitted to your implants. At most the whole process should take around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the number of crowns being installed. When done, your driver will return to collect you and take you to the airport to return home.

Once again, the aftercare team will be on hand whenever you need them once you’re home, ready to help out night and day with any problems that may arise or questions you may have.
