DC Comic fans were treated to Stargirl season 1 last year, and many are excited for season 2 to premiere later this year. The series is created by Geoff Johns, who also serves as the executive producer, and it features a wide range of talented cast members portraying several interesting characters. One character from the show is Wildcat II, or Yolanda Montez. Learn more about her below.
Who is Yolanda Montez?
Yolanda Montez is a smart and charismatic student at Blue Valley High, and she is known for getting straight A’s and staying in line. Everything changes for her when her boyfriend, Henry King Jr., asks her for a topless photo, and she reluctantly obliges. Fellow student and nemesis Cindy obtains the photo and forwards it to the whole school. Yolanda and Henry King Jr. break up immediately, and it’s not long before he and Cindy end up becoming romantically involved.
Yolanda then suffers from horrible slut-shaming and is labeled an outcast among her peers and family. Her parents ground her indefinitely, and she endures a lot of painful moments throughout the season. Yolanda and Courtney Whitmore eventually become friends, and Courtney later convinces her to take on the role of Wildcat II.
Who is Wildcat II?
Wildcat II is the alter ego of Yolanda Montez after she puts on the suit from the original Wildcat. Wildcat II possesses many helpful attributes that make her a force to be reckoned with when facing foes. Her suit features retractable claws that allow her to smash brick and cut through metal. The suit also allows her to climb walls, maintain incredible balance, and have superior agility.
Yolanda herself is trained as an excellent boxer, which comes in handy when combat is needed, and she is also incredibly stealthy. Her stealth abilities help her avoid the wrath of several supervillains as she sneaks up behind them or avoids them altogether.
Wildcat II, along with Stargirl and other super heroes, are a part of the JSA.
What is the JSA?
The JSA, or Justice Society of America, is a coalition of super heroes that existed a decision prior to the current time of the show. Many members of the JSA were killed by the enemy members of the Injustice League of America, the Injustice Society of America years ago.
Once Courtney uncovers Pat Dugan’s secret of being a part of the old JSA, she seeks to form a new one with the costumes of the past JSA members. At first, Yolanda doesn’t want anything to do with the JSA or Wildcat II, but she is eventually persuaded to become a member.
The original Wildcat’s alter ego was Ted Grant, who met his demise against the ISA.
