ILL Level has a hard-edged approach that will immediately get fans’ heads bopping. There’s a bit of grittiness here that feels like a mashup of Detroit and NYC styles. The intricacies of Phat Kat’s bars are nothing to sneeze at, while the hooky chorus act as a way to further highlight this approach. The distinct approaches of each side of this triad keeps ILL Level’s momentum high as it winds to a close. There’s no easy comparisons to be made here; what Shaheed, DJ Supreme, and Phat Kat due during this track is not quite like anything that I have previously heard before.
NeuFutur has had the opportunity to review quite a few Shaheed and DJ Supreme singles since 2017, including their Something To Ride To, Jazz Men, The Art of Throwing Darts, World of Water, S.T.E.M., S.T.E.a.M., and S.T.R.E.a.M., Keep Climbing, 1 Time 2 Many, Appreciate Life and Glorious Day. We just looked at the pair’s Play Ball. Take a look at our interview with the pair here.
