It has been said, time and again, that Mac’s “are the computers for the rest of us.” And while this is a true statement, there are a few select things about OSX that could use some updating. It is also true that OSX is about to get a new update this summer, Lion (for those keeping track), and with said update some of the basic Apps will be re-imagined; the…
If you’re like me, and iCal pretty much runs your life for you, then I have big news for you; iDeskCal has hit the Mac AppStore. iDeskCal is a simple App that has only one goal in mind, which is to make you a more efficient person. Are you like me and find it just too much of a bother to load up iCal just to take one quick look…
Ever since the Apple made the Mac AppStore, I have made it a habit to go trolling through the different lists to find Apps that would make my Mac-loving-readers lives a little easier. On one such adventure, trudging through the endless deluge of crapware, I discovered a few gems. Among the list was the App; SideFolders. Said App is a wonderful way to gain access to commonly used folders and…
With all the things that the new Mac AppStore has to offer, one of the things I was really wishing for most was a new Mac version of the popular iStudiez Pro App that I have for both my iPhone and my iPad. iStudiez Pro is an App for keeping your homework, assignments, grades, and classes all straight, and with ease, I might add. Both of the iOS versions of…
Making my rounds in the Mac AppStore, I decided I should check out the newest release of Pixelmator. For those of you who have never heard of Pixelmator, it’s a Photoshop alternative made just for the Mac. I’ve done my best to play with it over the past two weeks, and found it to be quite useful. Adobe Photoshop may rule as king now, but watch out for Pixelmator to…
It wasn’t all that long ago that I was nudged by my significant other to get a code for this board game Neuroshima Hex. I had never heard of it, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I got the game, loaded it up on my iPad, and set down to learn the rules. Side note: this game is a universal binary, so you can load it up on your…
SNK playmore has recently decided to release a port of their 1996 game, Metal Slug, for the iOS platform. After doing some research, I’m not entirely sure it’s the same game as the one released for the old Neo-Geo console, or the SNK Arcade platform. Either way, the game seen here is something very similar anyway. The game is presented in the classic 16 bit style with no graphic improvements.…
Remember how great it was the first time you beat Super Mario bros.? Remember how fun and simple it was? Are you like me and wish for the world of side scrolling adventures and action platformers to have a new lease on life? If you are, then rejoice! FrozenByte has heard your prayers and brought to you, the faithful, Trine. Trine is an action platformer that reclaims the glory days…
A couple weeks ago, I sent out some emails to several mac developers to get some codes to review Apps from the Mac AppStore. The developer group, Many Tricks, was one of the first to answer my call. They had developed a very useful App, one that I think should be like iLife and come preinstalled on every Mac. This utility App, called Witch, makes working with many windows and…
With the recent advent of the AppStore now available for the Mac, there have been a flood of really useful Apps that once were hidden by obscurity that are now getting some well deserved time in the spot light. One such App is DaisyDisk. DaisyDisk is a utility that does one thing, and does it very well. The App searches your hard drive, or even your jump drives, and then…
As a fan of the iOS platform and after seeing some of the wonders that it can produce, games such as infinity blade, or Aralon, or even how well it can produce retro games like Sonic or the Zelda clone Across Age; I find myself disappointed today. I am disappointed in a game, that would surely seem like a smash hit, that has sadly fallen short of my humble expectations.…
Scene It has put out, just in time for the big V-Day, the Romance version of Scene It for the iPad. We’ve covered scene it here before on the short list, though thankfully there is lots less blood this time. Last time we covered a scene it game here, it was halloween and we were looking at horror flicks. This time, it’s all about the love baby. Jesse_Haygeswww.neufutur.com
Not too long ago Apple released the Mac AppStore, and just this week they finally gave in and let developers produce Promo Codes. So, I took it upon myself to dive through the Mac AppStore and find some Apps that I thought would make life as a Mac easier for our readers. First to answer the call was Divvy. Mizage, a small team of developers, put out this small, but…
A little while back, maybe a month or so, north east Ohio was hit by it’s second wave of Snowmagedon. During that I time, I had been undergoing talks with a nice woman from ZeroChroma’s media department. We had been working on getting me a sample iPad case to test out and do a review for it. I eagerly waited with much anticipation to see what this new case would…
Taptivate recently decided to get into the social network scene with their recent release, “Friends.” Taptivate made a bold claim, to integrate the four corners of the social networking world, and make it easier to keep up with your friends from wherever their data hails. At first I was very interested in this App, but then I realized something very crucial; I don’t have that many friends. Oh well. The…
Redux, by its definition, is a thing that gets brought back, or experiences a resurgence, today on the short list is a review of an I’ve reviewed before, but not exactly. Tell you what I mean: awesome note, by Brid, came out for the iPhone quite some time ago, and I looked out unto the AppSphere, and found that it was good. Now I’m coming off like I think I’m…
A month or so ago I was also asked to review Ponk, a puzzle game that has some roots in common with the likes of tetris, Dr. Mario, and bust-a-move. The game is a simple and addictive one. The game has a container into which different colored orbs fall, or if you use the now outdated Halloween theme, they could look like cool emoticon balls. The name of the game…
Tap Disc Review By Jesse Hayges Legal Radiation gave me a code to review their title “Tap Disc” a couple months ago, and I’ve been playing it heavily since I received it, but due to the nature of being a student, school work become more important than reviews. For this I apologize, however, much to my delight, after a recent update, a lot of my previous issues with the game…
Gun Star Heroes Review By Jesse Hayges Sega has re-released the classic genesis game Gun Star Heroes for the iOS platform. This game is a game a few friends of mine were so excited to see it appear in the Wii downloadable games center. They loved this game, and after playing it for a few weeks, I can see why. In this classic side scrolling shooter, we see some of…
As an avid fan of both Apple, and the iPhone/iPad, I feel honored to report something shocking. I would first like to take moment and express some thoughts. I am a fan of gaming on the iPhone, and now gaming on the iPad, and some recent games being a shining example of what a gaming company can really do with the iOS platform, I feel that the iOS platform is…
