Self_Titled #2 / Free / 16M / :30 / email@example.com /
This is another casualty of my room, being stuck in random places since I got it a few years back. The date on this issue is March 2005. The layout is interesting and provides a lot in the way of distractions, and the different fonts used will more than keep people interesting. However, the writing style does not seem to click much during this issue of “Self_Titledâ€. I mean, there are some interesting pieces (such as “Get Shitfaced in a Classy Styleâ€, a piece about different Irish-themed drinks, and “Get Off Yr Ass And Fix Itâ€, about trying to make the local scene better, but there are some pieces that just are not that compelling to read. This is exemplified in the “I Got His Autograph Suckas†piece, which would seem to be about getting a famous person’s autograph but then meanders off without any real rhyme or reason. The list about how the author likes to make lists is on the verge of being fun, but it ultimately just struggles too long and stretches itself too far out to have any serious chuckles to it. I see some definite ability being put forth for this zine, but it just seems as if a number of these pieces never really get the momentum that they need to succeed. Here’s to hoping that there were later issues of Self_Titled and that Becky was able to really refine eir creative energies and make a much stronger type of magazine.
