Vanguard/Sugar Hill Artists Joey+Rory Celebrate Top 10 Album Debut

Debut single “Cheater Cheater” enters the top 40 at country radio

Joey+Rory celebrated the successful debut of their Vanguard/Sugar Hill Records album The Life of a Song with a party Wednesday night at The Station Inn in Nashville. The album, their first, entered the charts at #10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart and #61 on the all-genre Top 200 chart. Also this week, Joey+Rory’s debut single, “Cheater Cheater,” entered the Top 40 at country radio, coming in at 39* on this week’s R&R/BDS chart & 44* on this week’s Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart.

In welcoming the standing-room-only crowd, Rory Feek of Joey+Rory said, “A year ago, we never would have predicted what 2008 would bring…Joey was in an apron waiting tables in her restaurant and I was in an office just writing songs. To now have a Top 10 album and a Top 40 single—I can’t even say it’s a dream come true, because as big of dreamers we are…we never could’ve dreamed this”.

Joey Martin added, “Rory and I have loved getting to work with our producer Carl Jackson all the songwriters and musicians who contributed to this album, but it’s been an even bigger thrill for us to get to work with each other on a record we’re so proud of.”

Jackson was on hand to celebrate with Joey+Rory, who brought the Grammy Award-winning producer onstage to perform “Play The Song” with them. In an effort to share a few songs as Joey+Rory originally heard them, the couple passed the microphone to songwriters Dan Demay, who performed his cut “Heart of the Wood,” and Patrick Jason Matthews and Rebecca Lynn Howard, who co-wrote and performed the title track, “The Life of a Song.” Joey+Rory closed the show with lighthearted crowd-pleaser “Buy Our CD.”
