One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Ultimate Collector’s Edition (DVD)

At this point, if you’ve never seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest or don’t at least have an idea of the premise, you aren’t even reading this review. For everyone else, you only need to know that this massive re-release is a film aficionado’s dream.

Impressively packaged, the 1975 film (Jack Nicholson’s absolute best role), directed by Milo’s Forman, includes a DVD of the movie, four hours of bonus content including the documentary “Completely Cuckoo,” which boasts interviews with the director and cast members Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and Vincent Schiavelli.

This collector’s edition also includes a commemorative hard-bound book, a reproduction of the original press book, some photo cards of the cast, a real deck of playing cards (makes perfect sense if you’ve seen the movie) and four very cool mini reproductions of original theatrical posters used to promote the movie across the globe.

Movie studios (rightfully) have the rep for churning out new DVD versions of the same movie, over and over again, with very few extras to justify buying the same movie you already own. With this latest collector’s set of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Warner Bros have introduced the exception to the rule.
