There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Hobo With A Shotgun over the course of the last year. This DVD (and Blu-Ray) release looks to be the comprehensive release regarding this DVD. Hobo With A Shotgun focuses on Rutger Hauer’s character as ey moves into a new city and looks to try to make a new start. However, the denizens of the city are sufficiently messed-up to ensure that Hauer has to deal with all sorts of drug dealing and other sociopathic behavior the only way that ey knows how – with extreme violence.

The film itself walks the thin line between gross-out shoot ‘em up and black comedy, with just as many deaths as there are laughs present. The film style is further bolstered through the presence of hyper-realistic color and equally tinged roles turned in by the cast. Magnolia has added a few extra features to their releases of Hobo With A Shotgun to further increase the release’s worth; the shotgun mode allows individuals to stop the action on the screen and to gain a greater appreciation for the sheer amount of work that went into the title.
There are deleted scenes, a five-minute promo from HDNet about the film, forty-five minutes of Fangoria interviews, and two distinct commentary tracks that will provide a tremendous amount of backstory to the title. With the sheer amount of bonuses here, viewers will be able to keep their version of Hobo With A Shotgun in their player for months to come. For anyone that likes low-budget or otherwise campy revenge movies (think Death Wish), Hobo With A Shotgun is one of this year’s most fun films so far. Pick it up at your local video store.
