Beverly McClellan – Fear Nothing (CD)

The singer-songwriter trope is one in which there is a tremendous amount of flotsam. It is hard to find a solid title among all of the titles that are released on a monthly basis. However, I feel that Beverly McClellan’s Fear Nothing is a title that looks to redefine the genre, as well as provide a solid experience for anyone that happens to find a copy of the album. Fear Nothing begins with I See Love, a track that will immediately familiarize anyone with the constellation of genres that have shaped McClellan over the course of eir life.

Lyin’ To is a brief introduction to the sheer soulfulness and anger that leads McClellan on, with a sentiment contained that practically anyone that has life experience will be able to identify with. The disc’s lone featured track – Love Will Find A Way Out (with Keb Mo) is a welcome addition to the later measures of Fear Nothing. This is because the different dynamic created by the interplay of the two spins the disc off in an entirely new direction. Precious Times, the album’s final track, acts as a perfect closing for the release. This is because it touches upon the styles and approaches that were taken over the entirety of the disc and marries them into one cohesive and coherent effort.

Beverly McClellan may have had eir moment in the sun with eir appearance on The Voice, but I feel that eir talent is enough to allow for the creation of some amazing music. If you liked what ey did on the show, there is no reason that you should not pick a copy of Fear Nothing today.
