THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY Premieres New Music Video “Ballad of the White Horse”

Austin, TX psychedelic garage rockers THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY released their self-titled debut The Saint James Society this past February.  Recorded at ATX’s Cacophony Recorders (Explosions in the Sky, Roky Erickson), the four song EP delivers electric rock music that brilliantly connects the dots between the late ’60s British blues-based bands and the brooding atmospheres of early ’80s post punk resulting in a hypnotically powerful sound the fabulous five-piece has coined “Pentecostal Desert Glam“.  The recording has been hailed as “big-sounding psych-rock to fuel the fire kindled by the 13th Floor Elevators and more recently tended to by the Black Angels” by Austinist, “grooving” and “hypnotic” by Guitar World and “A black-lit amalgam of glam swagger, leather-jacketed hard rock, and occult psychedelia” by the Austin Chronicle.  Today, BLURT premieres THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY‘s “threatening” new videoBallad of the White Horse“.  Check out the dangerous clip now at this location!

THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY

THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY fuses a “raw energy” sound with the pseudo-mysticism of The Doors and the guitar-orchestrations of classic hard rock, skillfully synthesizing these musical touchstones to create their dazzling sound.  The group’s darkly iridescent, kill-your-idols vibe is a fist-punching yelp of energy that demands to be heard at maximum volume.  When the soaring vocals and ticking-time-bomb bass lines of front man Brandon Burkart align with the psychedelia-drenched guitar of David DuBois and twin vocal tandem of rebel queens Elza Burkart and Candice Bertalan, the resulting musical statement mainlines the thrill of defiance straight to the listener’s heart.  Placing their steps in the petrified footprints left by the Velvet Underground and the slightly fresher ones of Spacemen 3, THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY reduces the blues to one nasty lick pickled in distortion.

THE SAINT JAMES SOCIETY will enter the studio in July to begin recording its full length debut, tentatively titled Celestial Symbols Interpreted.  Artwork for the release will be handled by designer Steve Knodel (Radiohead) and a 15 minute short film including three new songs from the band and filmed by director Juan Azulay (www.ma77er.com) is also expected to surface.  Stay tuned…

“Austin, Texas, band The Saint James Society likens itself to a union of late-1960s British blues and early-1980s post-punk. But, as they say, everything’s bigger in Texas, and as such, TSJS manages to summon the full force of its arsenal of pedals and amps for a louder, more muscular presentation. You can only brood for so long before the band’s psych-rock rapture takes hold” – LAS VEGAS CITYLIFE

“Austin “Pentecostal desert glam” band The Saint James Society looks freaky and sounds killer – or is it looks killer and sounds freaky?” – BLURT

“These Austin rockers merge Sixties garage and Eighties post-punk…TSJS succeed in creating a dark, stoned vibe”
– GUITAR WORLD
