Natsume’s Book of Friends is far from typical fare. There is a certain care put into the small details. This means that the backdrops feel as if the characters live in the real life, instead of a set of (more or less) static locations. The show itself has legs, keeping things fresh even after the completion of two full seasons. The show has a tremendous knack at resolving all situations by the conclusion of the episode, but blends a weekly issue format with just enough variance to keep viewers eagerly focused in.

The Premium Edition of Season 3 comes with 2 DVDs and 2 Blu-Ray Discs comprising 13 episodes as the primary feature. Along with that, this edition includes a 32 page book, which will provide purchasers with additional character information, a breakdown of the season’s episodes, and sketches approximating the final version of what is presented on these discs. For a limited time, NIS’ store will even throw in a set of Nyanko-sensei keychains if one orders the Season 3 Premium Edition.

Natsume’s Book of Friends have been given a tremendous amount of love by NIS America. Videophiles will be pleased to learn that Season 3 marks the transition into 1080p, blending well with a crisp and clean Japanese audio. English subtitles do well in conveying emotion and differentiating the different characters.  The Premium Edition of the show’s third season provides a solid look into an evolving story and a tremendous amount of return on the investment. NIS America has this DVD set available for $69.99 (on sale now for $55.99). Check out additional information about this premium edition and the show at the NISAmerica website.
