Going to a new place can be one of the most exciting experiences you ever have in your life. The thrill of discovering a new place and meeting new people is like no other. It stands to reason that many people spend a lot of money on traveling and exploring the beauty and intrigue the world has to offer. When you go to a new city, you feel the excitement of a kid in a candy store. There’s so much to discover and do, and probably so little time to do it. Indulging in new experiences and exploring unchartered territories is one of the best ways to stay alive. But if you do find yourself in a new city, what is the best and most exciting way to discover it?

On foot

Believe it or not, wandering around in a new city is one of the most profound ways you could explore it. What if you get lost, you’d ask? Well, that’s the beauty of it, actually. Getting lost in a city with no plan or itinerary allows for spontaneity to take over, and nothing bad ever comes from being spontaneous. You get to see the nooks and crannies of the city and to explore it like no guide will ever show you. They even say some cities can only be truly experienced by getting lost on foot, like Paris, for instance.

Scooters

No, we’re not talking about kids’ scooters. As a matter of fact, adults commuting scooters are an excellent way to discover the city. You get to see all the beauty and people around you, and you can easily stop and park whenever you want, unlike a cab or another vehicle. On a scooter, you get to take it all in and experience the city for what it really is, instead of being cornered in a cab or subway.

Bicycle

If you’re more into the athletic bit, a bicycle is another excellent option. You get to enjoy the city as much as on a scooter, if not more. It doesn’t have an engine, so you’ll get to stop and observe quite more often. And the cool thing is you’ll get to do all that while working out and staying in shape.

A random bus ride

Before you claim taking a bus contradicts the spontaneity of getting lost on foot and the scale of exploring on a bike, we’re not suggesting you take bus rides throughout the city. You can take the first bus you meet in the street and get off at a random bus station. From there, start exploring until you catch another bus ride to another random location. By the end of the day, you’ll find that you’ve covered a good chunk of the city without planning ahead, and it’d be quite the experience.

Enjoy yourself

Many people make the mistake of over-planning a trip to a new city. By doing so, they forget the most important part of going to a new place, having fun. Some things require planning, but discovering a new city can just as well be a spontaneous journey where you get to experience things that you normally wouldn’t. At the end of the day, what’s more important than letting loose a bit and enjoying yourself for a change?
