Japanese sound explorer Cornelius will be taking his mind-blowing live show to the US for 4 special dates this May. All shows are in California (following his first ever Mexican performances) and come on the heels of his “Best Surround Sound” Grammy nomination for the fantastic Sensurround+B-Sides DVD. The DVD, released on Everloving last year, features an all new 5.1 surround sound audio mix of each video from the critically acclaimed album tying together his greater themes ranging from the simplicity of primary colors, to the complex concepts contemplated only by a world-traveling, Brian Wilson-loving, Tokyo-dweller.

Cornelius has always marched to the beat of a different drum machine, even in his technicolored home-base of Nakameguro, Tokyo. Since exploding onto the scene in 1997 with debut pop opus Fantasma, he has dazed and amused fans worldwide with his freeform multimedia aesthetic and playful sense of humor. Cornelius has collaborated with artists as varied as The Flaming Lips, James Brown, Beck, Blur, Merzbow and occasionally sits in as an auxiliary member of Yellow Magic Orchestra.

Cornelius’ live show is something to behold, synchronizing visuals and custom LED lighting in perfect harmony with the stellar play of his band of multi-instrumentalists. Joining Cornelius on their US dates is none other than Deerhoof, making this a can’t miss show.
