Maui Brewing Company is once again partnering with Delaware’s Dogfish Head Craft Brewery on a rendition of the familiar and rare Liquid Breadfruit. Be the first to try this year’s evolution of the collaboration at MBC Kihei’s tasting room on Wednesday, February 22 from 3:30-5:30pm. The event will be hosted by MBC’s brew team along with Dogfish Head Founder Sam Calagione, and will feature a paired beer and pupu offering with live music from Matt Del Omo.Originally brewed in 2012 and relaunched in 2016, this year’s variation was inspired by auntie’s chocolate chip banana nut bread. The Imperial Pastry Stout is brewed with a balance of local ingredients including toasted macadamia nuts, cacao nibs, apple bananas, ‘ulu (breadfruit) from Kahului’s Maui Breadfruit Company, and vanilla, with Royal Cinnamon provided by Dogfish Head. This brew offers aromas of your favorite baked goods.
Founder of Dogfish Head, Sam Calagione said, “I’m super excited to be returning to the beautiful island of Maui to hang with my longtime pal and collaborator Garrett Marrero. Designing this new iteration of Liquid Breadfruit with James Newman, Kim Brisson-Lutz, and Mark Safarik has been a creatively cathartic adventure. I can’t wait to try the batch when it premieres at our event on February 22. Hope to see a bunch of you there.”
Available on draft only, the decadent Pastry Stout is black in appearance with rich dessert-like sweetness. Liquid Breadfruit has an ABV of 10% with 25 IBUs. Enjoy this delicious dessert beverage at Maui Brewing Company locations in Kihei and Lahaina, and partners Leilani’s and Monkeypod restaurants in Kaanapali. The MBC team are stewards of their communities and the ‘aina, and curators of the craft beer way of life. Their beers have been recognized worldwide for quality and innovation.
