Sobieski Vodka (80 Proof)

Danica: I’m a huge fan of vodka, I love all types and flavors. So, when I had the chance to review this vodka, I made sure that I was having a craving for a good mixed drink. Before consumption I chilled the bottle in the freezer to make sure it was at a perfectly cold temperature. After the vodka was chilled I opened the bottle and poured out my first…

X-Rated Fusion Liqueur (34 Proof)

I know that Hpnotiq is a major type of drink with the college set, but X-Rated Fusion is in many aspects a step above Hpnotiq. This is due to the composition of the liqueur, which ties together vodka, blood oranges, mango, and passion fruits into a cohesive and robust liqueur. The alcohol content (34 proof) means that this liqueur is equally good in and of itself, and as a mixer…

Knob Creek (100 Proof)

I still recall my first experience with Knob Creek. I was with one of my friends at DePauw University and ordered a whiskey sour using Knob Creek. I was a big fan of the spirit in that concoction, but this was with limited experience in the field (only being exposed to Ten High, Evan Williams, and Jack Daniels previously) and with the sample being blended in with a mixer. Luckily…

Yellow + Blue (Malbec)

During my entire lifetime boxed wine has not been synonymous with luxury, but Yellow + Blue has brought something more to the table. When I first received this wine I was intrigued why such great wine would be packaged in a box. Well, as I began to read the box it explained that “wine lovers shouldn’t have to choose between quality wine and a healthier planet.” At that point I…

Inniskillin 2007 Riesling Ice Wine

When we first received this wine I was very excited – I love a good Riesling and also I had never had ice wine before this. I wanted to make this moment a special one. I wanted to try it after a fine meal or with a good friend, but I was so anxious to try it I finally broke down and opened it. I had a minor difficulty opening…

Pernod Absinthe (136 Proof)

Pernod has a history in the Absinthe business. Their last foray into absinthe, the 20th century effort Pernod fils, was the highest selling absinthe before 1915. The recent legalization of absinthe in the United States market means that there have been a number of absinthes that have flooded into the market. As was the case nearly 100 years ago, Pernod has created the best brand of absinthe on the market.…

Absolut – Los Angeles (80 Proof)

I’m a serious fan of Absolut Vodka especially their flavored types. But when I picked up a bottle of their 2008 special edition flavor entitled Los Angeles I was blown away. Absolut has taken their master craftsmanship of vodka and flavoring and thrown together one of the tastiest things I’ve ever had in my life. Featuring acai, acerola, pomegranate and blueberry flavors Los Angeles is out of this world.

Clean Slate 2007 Riesling

Throughout all of my youth and legal alcohol-drinking age, I had not found a single type of wine I liked until New Year rolled around last year. I had purchased a bottle of champagne (Korbel) and liked it, and moved into Verdi soon after. However, I still had my doubts about a more traditional type of wine, until Clean Slate’s 2007 Riesling came across the desk. The smooth mouth feel…

O2 945 Vodka

International English Distillers have such a hit on their hands with O2 sparkling vodka that individuals over on this side of the pond – most notably Dr. Dre – have cribbed the idea into their own brands of sparkling vodka. However, O2 has stepped their game up from their first offering. The O2 945 offering is 94 proof but feels as smooth going down as any other super-premium, 80 proof…

Cruzan Guava Rum (55 Proof)

I think, out of all the flavored alcohols that we have had a chance to drink, that Cruzan Guava Rum is the only one that has a fruit flavor with which I’ve not previously had the fruit of. Regardless, the Guava Rum is by far the best flavored high-alcoholic product that we have had the chance to review. Where the previous flavored rums that we have reviewed – the Black…

Cruzan Black Cherry Rum (55 Proof)

I know as a child, I loved anything to do with black cherry. The one bad thing was that pretty much any company that did black cherry soda were those at the discount grocery store; there was not a high class brand of black cherry soda to be had. I feel that a number of individuals in the United States felt the same way, and that the black cherry taste…

Cruzan Raspberry Rum (55 Proof)

While there have been a number of different flavored alcohols that have pervaded the markets in the last few years, a key problem that has surrounded all of them has been a strong fake flavor of whatever type of fruit that the alcohol is supposed to have included. Thus, an orange flavoring would put the alcoholic drink perilously close to a cough syrup type of flavor. However, the latest offerings…

Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum (80 Proof)

Set at $34.99 for a 750ml bottle (a 1.75 L bottle is available as well), Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum would normally be a little out of our price range. However, we were provided with a sample of the rum, and after getting a number of opinions and thought about the overall taste, mouthfeel, and bouquet, we here at NeuFutur felt that an individual that actually purchased a bottle of…

Midori Melon Liqueur

Finally, we come to Midori Melon Liqueur. Of the three types of spirit reviewed in this panel, the highest interest was toward this Liqueur. The bright green color of Midori reminds individuals of perhaps a sour apple Jolly Rancher, or even Absinthe. The taste of Midori, however, is different than all of that. The alcohol content is similar to that of Zen Green Tea Liqueur – 40 proof, or 20%…

Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey

The first thing that I purchased after I turned 21 was a handle of Evan Williams Whiskey and a Black and Mild. Needless to say, I was on a budget at the time, and my tastes were not too terribly cultured. One thing has remained true through the years since that date; I like whiskey. I have tended to gravitate towards the cheaper brands and styles of whiskey (Ten High…

Zen Green Tea Liqueur

Zen Green Tea Liqueur is an even better of the concoction that I made back in my fraternity days, when I mixed Iced Tea with cheap whiskey. However, there are some key differences between Zen Green Tea Liqueur and that Frankenstein’s creation, in that it literally tastes like Green Tea, while still having a decent enough alcoholic content (40 proof, or 20% alcohol by volume). Green tea leaves are ground…

O2 Sparkling Vodka

O2 Sparkling Vodka / 2008 International English Distillers / 80 Proof / http://www.sparklingvodka.com / This is another inaugural type of review for NeuFutur. Where we just had our first peripheral (the Pro|Click Mobile Mouse) reviewed yesterday, we have our first alcohol reviewed today. First off, I have to give massive kudos to International English Distillers (and Admiral Imports) for being so liberal with the vodka. I had fully expected a…
